This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. He rants and trails off his own outline, but then wonders why everyone is lost. He tests you on material that ISN'T IN THE READING FOR THAT TEST, and stresses to note what's IMPORTANT, but also makes you focus on the most minut details. The curves are nice, however, I shouldn't have to rely on them.

Let me tell you, History 202 was the hardest class I've took. The guy is nuts, who assigns over 100 questions on every exam. Do not take his course for interim, I really regret it. It was extremely difficult to keep up with the readings because each chapter was at least 40 pages, if not longer. He lectures like a politician, doesn't use slides.....

Professor Kercher is a fantastic lecturer. I took this class over interim so it was a lot of reading, but that is to be expected. His tests are tough, though he does curve them fairly. I would recommend him as a teacher if you actually want to learn the material. He is not an easy A though!

He is definitely a fan of lecturing, and goes off tangent quite often so schedules and outlines often get squeezed in because there is less time than he thinks there is. He does care about your test grades but isn't exactly warm and fuzzy in office hours. I read every page in the book. You have to take this class seriously.

He's extremely rude. He puts material on the test that we haven't even learned. Isn't clear on what information will be on the test. You have to read over 60 pages a week.

I took Kercher over interim and it was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken! He assigned 100+ pages of reading every night. We had a 3 hour lecture every day with one 5 min break so he could get through everything. The tests were very difficult and required lots of studying. If you like history you'll be fine, otherwise avoid!

I really enjoy history, so I was eager to take this class. His lectures are very interesting. In addition to Dr. Kercher being really passionate about the subject, he is also very knowledgeable about history. The class is very time consuming and challenging. If you love history, take it. Otherwise, it's not a good idea.

I love history, especially modern day history, so I was excited to take this class. His lectures were extremely interesting, and you can tell he has passion for the subject. I got a lot out of the lectures, but be prepared to read, read, read. I would recommend if you like history, but if you are borderline considering taking the course, don't.

DO NOT TAKE Very unhelpful when asked for help. Doesn't like when you disagree or contradict. Readings are 60+ pages a class period. Quizzestests focus on obscure details. No rubrics, but acts like there is, &or gives vague instructions on assignments. Papers are graded in a extremely subjective manner. You don't write how he would, good luck.

This is a class that is supposed to be focused on sustainability, but he makes us print 50+ pages to read. If you don't print them, he yells at you because you aren't prepared for class. His tests are impossible and focus on the smallest of details. Oh, and he finds joy in calling out the problems that students do in front of the whole class.

Prepare to read like there's no tomorrow, and then be tested on every little fact in the 50+ page articles he assigns daily. If you don't plan on reading and taking notes on every specific fact then don't plan on passing any of his tests or quizzes.

Kercher is hands down the best college professor I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgable and passionate about the subject and makes lectures interesting. It is a very heavy work load but if you are dedicated it will pay off! Highly recommend History 210!

I enjoyed having Kercher. He is a great guy and he is funny! But, his test and quizzes are very difficult! He assigns 100+ pages to read for homework every night. He acts as if you are not taking any other courses. If you are interested in History, you should be good.

If you want to actually be taught by a professor, stay away from Kercher. His lectures are irrelevant to the homework he assigns, and there is no textbook to follow along. He assigns 90 minute videos along with 100+ pages of reading per night. His quizzes are very specific from the readings. Awful class. I hate history even more now. Stay away!

Probably the best professor I have ever had. Enjoyed going to each lecture during the week and actually looked forward to going. You have to read your text book though because every quiz that he gives is straight out of the text. Also he is very willing to help you if you are struggling. I highly recomend this class!!

He definitely always gives off the impression that he is better than you and has little faith in your ability. He certainly knows his subject but is not willing to help a struggling class.

Great Teacher! If you take history you have to have Kercher. He is passionate about the subject and you become passionate about it too. If are the type to slack off, forget it. Don't waste Kerchers time with that. This class is for the serious historian who loves history. I wish I could take every class with him!
