Comment:

Dr. Michot is passionate about history. He clearly expects a lot from his students but its primarily because he wants to see them succeed. The only negative thing I have to say, is that sometimes his lectures get long winded. However, Dr. Michot was the ultimate reason why I changed my major to History. I owe him an enormous debt of gratitude.

Comment:

This class is okay. There are 20 quizzes in total and no cumulative final (a quiz). I did find that some of the quizzes really tested comprehension rather that having the lecture and being able to look it up. Overall, it's a solid class especially if you just want to get history out of the way.

Comment:

Get your muskets ready colonels, because you're about to hear about THE NIGHT THEY DROVE OL DIXIE DOWN . Seriously though, he never shuts up about the Civil War, even when you're learning about the Civil War. He's also one of those "The Civil War was about states rights and not slavery" type of dude. He has boring lectures also. Nice guy, though.

This class was way harder than it should have been. The quizzes were given weekly and it was never allowed enough time to complete the quizzes. Also I did not like that it was an online class but many assignments you were required to meet with him at school. The final was also the hardest test I ever have taken..

There was only 4 grades and they were tests. Go to class and listen to the lecture bc if not you won't know what's on the test. You can record his lectures. HATES CELL PHONES. Can use laptops for notes but sit in the front of the class. If you pay attention to the lectures and STUDY you should make good grades. There were 2 extra credit opportunity

Textbook is online and you should read for the test. Power points are vague but lectures explain in detail so you have to go to class. Offers extra credit often. Wanders off in lectures. Points more missing class increase with each absences. No papers. Test are multiple choice and has bonuses. Will curve grades if necessary.

Never again will I ever take Dr. Michot. He is extremely knowledgable on history, but cannot teach it. Expects you to have a historian's preference to history. Gets off topic every class, to things that are completely irrelevant to the topic or the test. Does not prepare students for his tests. Lectures are all over the place. Had to drop his class

Pay attention during the lecture. Do NOT skip class. I throughly enjoyed this class. It was like listening to a good story.

I heard HORRIBLE things about Dr. Michot, but I needed this course so I registered anyway. After taking his class, it made me appreciate history and it's now my minor. He has very strict attendance policies, but his tests come straight from lecture so you kind of need to go to class anyway. As long you put forth the effort, you should pass.

I took history 150 online, and it was very clear and straight forward. He gives you one lecture per week, as well as a quiz every Friday. Quizzes are the same structure every time. I would definitely recommend taking him! No readings in a textbook, every lecture is uploaded to Moodle.

Never take him unless you already know 75% of what happened in history. He picks certain people in the class that he's friendly to, and the rest he treats like boo boo (you know what i meant). He also gets off track a lot with his lectures!

He comes across as a very conceited and judgmental man. Attendance is mandatory and you cannot come late or leave early. (-2 per day absent, -1 per late arrivalearly leave off final grade average) No textbook, but he puts powerpoint on the board and lectures with it. And if you don't make at least 50% on all exams he says you should just drop.

Great teacher. Definitely comes off as conceited at first, but he is really smart. Instead of 4 exams, he gave us 10 quizzes. Made life a lot easier! Class will drag on sometimes, but he's more interesting than teachers I've had in the past.

Great instructor! Took an online class with him, and it was fairly easy. Expect to spend about 30 minutes each day in the textbook. Easy to work with, and ensures you're properly prepared for your tests which aren't difficult, if you've studied.

I am taking him for a online class, one of the first online classes out of three, and he is the easiest! He gives power points, notes, even study guides! you just have to re read everything and make sure you know material before quizs! EASYYY A!

Great teacher. With his military studies he keeps class very interesting and knows what he is talking about. Took him for 155 and 156 and have been recommending him ever since.

Have him for an online class. He posts essay topics to be completed within a week. Must read the entire chapter to cover all of the information (about 40 pages) and essays are 500 words long at two a piece per chapter.
