Tom is a cool guy. He is a pretty good lecturer. He at times loses train of thought and has to figure out exactly what to say. He seems to know History and enjoys teaching it. The class might be boring if you don't like History much. Otherwise, it's a good time, His tests are easy, and he gives good study guides! Overall, a great class!

Papa D is a very nice and genuine man. He shows an interest in his students and their studies and clearly has a passion for his field of study-he's a very easy guy to like. As a teacher though he falls flat. Class was utterly boring as he just kind of gets up there and wings it. I left this semester feeling as if I honestly learned nothing.

I've had this Professor for 2 Semesters now and he's honestly not that good. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to Asia Minor. However, he was really bad at teaching Nature. He hardly ever returns papers. And doesn't explain how he gets your grade.

Hard grader. It's hard to understand him at times but he is a nice guy. He has shown tremendous improvement when it comes to responding to emails. He jut has to work on returning assignments. HOWEVER he is very open to ideas on how to run the class

Took intro to the study of History with Papa D and thought the class was difficult. A lot of work to do, and didn't do a great job at helping students understand the class. Avoid taking him if possible.

People who do not want to work hard will not like Dr. Papademetriou. Those who enjoy learning and going to class everyday will love him. If you expect not to work hard, do not go to college. He is a great teacher

Although PapaD is a awesome person, he is a horrible at conducting a class that is helpful in a way, shape, or form. While it was a great break from having a ton of homework, since he ultimately gave NONE, his rambling was nonsense and you never knew when to take notes. He is extremely unorganized and is not helpful at all. Not clear on assignments

PapaD is a complex dude. Gives pretty lengthy assignments, but isn't a super tough grader like some of the other history professors. Lots of reading too.

He was a cool and intelligent guy but just an awful teacher. He rambles for hours on topics that were not important and not on the tests. PapaD throws some busy work in if you are busy, don't even bother with it. The work does not help you and or affects your grade. Finally, I got an A and I am not a history major so it's not too difficult.

I'm not a history major but took this as an at some distance. Give sooo much reading and assigns really long papers for a class that isn't listed with a w attribute. Steer away from history classes if you aren't a major because it's too much reading and writing for one class.

Really nice guy. I'd say unless you are a history major or have a strong interest in the Middle East or ottoman history don't take the class, it is a very in depth class about the empire and there is a ton of information to know. If you go in not knowing anything about the subject it is a challenging course. There is a midterm, term paper, & final

We read a book a week for our ASH class, which at times was a little much. In addition to reading a book a week, we wrote 2 20 pg papers and one book review. I learned that J-Stor book reviews and skimming were the only way to stay sane by the end of the semester. Too much work if you're taking other challenging history classes

Nice guy. Loves to talk. The only issue I see is that there is no organization to his lectures. it's completely random and it makes it hard to follow. a plus, when it comes to vocab, he break the words down with their prefix and suffix meanings

I had Prof. Papademetriou for ASH: Power and there was a lot of work for the class. We went through at least one book a week and sometimes more. We only got one grade back before the last two classes, so you never really knew how you were doing. Read the books, write good papers, and give good presentations and you'll get at least a B.

Had him for a senior history seminar. There's a lot of reading (10 books for the semester) and a lot of writing (1 20ish pg primary source paper, 1 book review, and 1 20 pg seminar paper). Some of the books were boring but it was an okay class.

He tries his best to keep the class interesting but sometimes he does think the material is more interesting than it actually is. He lectures for the entire class so a cup of coffee is good. not a lot of grades so you never know what you're getting in the class but mostly everyone ends up with an A anyway. Participate and show up and you're good

Professor Papademetriou is incredibly knowledgeable and his lectures are full of information. Sometimes he goes slightly off track, but he's a good teacher. The class has a midterm, final, and one large paper (15 pages). The midterm and final are short answer and essay format.
