Dope guy! Take this class even if you hate rocks because it was so interesting & no homework. Only one test per week. Only releases lectures one at a time, and you must watch the lecture video. No need book. Would take his class again if I could. This is the ideal elective if you need one. Thanks for a great semester. Terry rocks!

Professor Naumann's easy going, his lectures are interesting, and overall this is a great class. I've taken a couple Geology classes and Professor Naumann's is by far the best.

He's super nice. Fair. Every week there's a small quiz. If you study you'll be fine, its exactly what's on the lectures. He wants the class to be easy but still wants you to learn. I enjoyed the class a lot!

I don't even like science but he managed to make it interesting! His lectures are super funny because he's a funny guy. He really knows his stuff and will go over things until you get it. He wants you to pass so he curved almost every test we had then dropped our lowest test score, which meant I didn't have to take the final!

I took his entry level Geology lecture and lab courses. He is really tough on his upper division students and really easy on his entry level students. You still learn and have to know the material. But it's not that hard to learn. Very funny. Best entry level professor I've ever had because he doesn't grill you so hard but you still learn a lot.

What a great class! The expectations were clearly laid out, the lectures were well done, and the quizzes were relevant. No surprises here. Listen to the lecture, look over the book and take your quizzestests. I learned a lot and Dr. Naumann really made geology relevant. I would definitely take another class from him! UAA should be proud of him!

VERY helpful. The class was hard but he was willing to see me once a week to go over what I didn't understand and would meet up with me one and one before tests to assist me with studying. He drops the lowest test grade and all tests are graded on a curve. Very enthusiastic about his work and makes the class fun and entertaining.

Best science class I've ever had - and I never liked science. He explained the concepts in a way a non-science major can understand. Great visual aids. The field trip was a plus. He does not take roll, but you HAVE to attend if you want to pass. Take lots of notes, and ask questions. I only used the book for one class that I missed.

worst class i have taken in my college career, i studied my ass off for almost every test and i still didn't do well on them. His tests are ridiculous and the class as a whole is ridiculous. Do not take this class, it is a waste of your semester and a waste of your money, i'm pissed i took this class.

He might be a fun teacher for lower division classes, but he also teaches Mineralogy and Petrology. He probably knows his stuff, but he is a horrible teacher, who is unclear and leaves you completely confused. On the tests, he tries to trick you. Not the way to test someone's knowledge! Unfortunately, he is the only teacher for those classes!

Attendance is essential! He says that the textbook is not required, but he does pull some information from the book and tests on it. The exams are mainly based on the notes from class though. He loves it when your cell phone rings in class, or if you're late or you get up in the middle of class!

The best teacher you will ever take a class from. Nice sense of humor, interacts with students, explains with plain everyday examples, shows lots of pictures. People who say his tests are hard just don't work hard enough! Geology totally rocks!

Awesome prof. Makes geol. interesting. He's been around world and has pics and stories from his travels. He tests on his lectures, so take good notes. Don't miss the little facts. I thought lab was much harder. (btw, Stelling is a great lab instructor) He drops lowest test grade. And yes, he is hot!

These ppl are wrong, his class was so hard because he did not test on the stuff he emphasized in his lecture, it was like he realized at the end that the stuff on the test hadn't been talked about and threw it in at the end of the lecture. It is good that he drops a test grade though.

Comment:

Naumann is no slouch!, Be prepaired to work. He is on of the most facinating professors at the university. The highlight of this class was going on a field trip with Prof Naumann. In conjunction with his awsome lab instructor Sarah, I have a new view of the earth we live on.
