Professor does not know the subject, made a lot of erroneous statements about Russian literature in class. The books he chose for the class were not read and analyzed properly. Lack of understanding of the processes in Russian literature. A shame of the department of Modern Languages.

He tries. Barran is a nice man, but the tangents are a bit too much. You have no idea what you will get in the class. If he just stood on track sometimes the class wouldn't be so bad. Take at your own risk. However if you speak every now and then it makes a huge difference on what he thinks about you.

If you want to learn something, don't take this class. he talks about random stories and personal things that have nothing to do with russian. he can't stay on topic.however, there is barely any work to be done.

He seems a little mean at first but once you get to know him you'll find out that he has a very nice personality. I agree that his vocabulary and knowledge of russian literature is rich but he has a very strong accent when he speaks Russian, but when he lectures in English it gets much better. Take him

If you need 3 credits - take his class. If you need 6 credits - take two of them, if you need 9 credits - I guess you know what to do. I would call his class "Free Credits and A's Giveaway". I think he should be more strict, cause he's very heartful. The easiest class you can ever find in Brooklyn College.

This class is very important for us who know Russian. Since we live here we easy pick English and forget our native language even with our friends we speak English. This class give us feeling of who we are. This prof. is OK. May be he is not the best but he knows a lot and can share with any of us.
