Very nice old man with odd sense of humor. "Sorry doesn't feed the bulldog" is one of his favorite things to say. His teaching... hard to follow because he's all over the place a lot. Class was very boring and there is a lot of writing, much of which seemed impossible at the time, but he allows revisions on everything. Is retiring very soon.

Another poster mentioned the 1979! English seminar with Ulysses as text. Good class. The greatest single document in the English language made livelier still by Derby Day Ware. Am jealous that I cannot take him again, especially as in the last few years he has been incorporating the contemporary art and music of the works under study. Retired?

Dr. Ware is a great man. He will challenge you and does not go easy on anyone. There is a lot of writing involved, but he allows revisions. He's funny at times, but his class can get boring, not because of Dr. Ware, but because of the reading material. I made an A in the class with limited effort.

This was the biggest crap show of a class if I have ever seen one. There was no real material taught, no concepts or anything. Just random bits of information thrown out with nothing to tie them to. I honestly learned nothing. The worst experience I have had in a class and I am a hardworking student.

seriously, the most epic older man on the face of the planet, Retired military, turned down med school, been at the University before it was UTC...longer than anyone else there. Wow this teacher is soooo awesome!!! He loves his students. We read a lot of books in his class and do a lot of papers but if u know about the book then the paper is easy. He likes the phrase "you dig?" a lot. Hard to take notes because he does not write clear AT ALL but if u just listen......easy A

I can't even describe how much I enjoyed Dr. ware's class. He is an extremely knowledgeable man, and has taken a generous amount of time helping me improve my writing skills. If you don't plan to work or attend class, don't take him; he doesn?t take laziness well.

Senior seminar, Ulysses, years ago! (1978? I took it early) Dr. Ware has had an impact on me! I'm still quoting from Ulysses, to the amazement of my friends. kind of disturbing, though, isn't it! I was scared to death of Dr. Ware. Once I ripped a page from a wirebound notebook, and he went nuts yelling at me!

I had Dr. Ware as both a graduate and as an undergraduate. Yes, he rambles. But he is absolutely stuffed to the brim with knowledge about EVERYTHING and is brilliant. If you have "attendance issues" or are lazy, don't take him. Take him if you really want to learn and are willing to work.

If you don't like reading, can't take criticism, and come off as a crybaby, he isn't a teacher for you. This man knows what he is doing and is virtually the smartest man i've ever met. Don't take the class early, however, for he sounds like a radio personality. Ask for re-writes - he grants them.
