Dr. Halstead is known for his "outlines," but those outlines are crucial to learning the most material. He happens to be my advisor as well. He is more than willing to have personal relationships with students and really seeks to minister to them. I love Dr. Halstead.

I had him for the online class, and while he seemed like a very kind man, his lectures and assignments didn't teach anything that you don't know from going to church and reading your Bible, which, unlike college, is free. His grading was also very arbitrary, without actually commenting on what you should have done to get a better grade.

I am so thankful for Dr. Halstead and his teaching. Godly man. So glad I took his class. Work hard on the "Outlines" (exegesis) and pay attention in class. You'll do well. I'll take his classes again. Such a great prof. He really loves the Lord and his students. Take Doc Halstead! Especially good if you're a good writer/don't want to buy textbooks.

I looooved this class--not only did we learn the basics of Greek, but Halstead constantly challenged us to use our knowledge to draw closer to the Lord! 1 John is now my favorite book--ABIDE in Christ!

Dr. Halstead made tackling Greek such a joy. Despite the rigors of learning a new language (a dead one at that), I always looked forward to going to class and hearing Dr. Halstead's input on the passages. Plus, his daughter was on my South Africa missions trip. She's awesome, so he must've been a good dad.

Comment:

Gospel of John is a great class for those interested in getting to know the gospel well. You will read it until you know it well. The commentary is very helpful and the lectures are fairly good. The projects are time-consuming but effective. Prepare to work hard and learn a lot. It's well worth it.

Comment:

Halstead covers all the material given, instead of only covering half of the books. His outlines are very long and time consuming, but who can complain about Bible study? The key is starting early and doing one or two a day. He is a great guy who really cares about the students.
