Tom was a fantastic professor and convinced me that I actually do want to become an editor. He only gives a few tests and they aren't difficult at all. His projects are very open and mostly pass/fail to give you room to grow. He's really helpful, funny, nice, and experienced. The best Park professor I've had thus far.

Tom Nicholson is one of my favorite professors this semester. He is easy to talk to and is more than willing to help out. He's the kind of professor that will answer emails at one in the morning. I wasn't thinking about Field Production at all until I took his class. I have learned so much from him.

Comment:

Tom is the reason why I'm in TVR to this day. In just his intro to field class, I think I learned more than in any of my other classes combined so far. Also had him in NFP. He's got the real world experience, leads classes in an interesting and fun way, and really makes you want to do your absolute best on anything you make. Favorite IC prof!

Tom is one of the most knowledgable teachers at IC. He has A LOT of experience in the Television & Radio business. He really cares about your future and makes sure you enjoy what you are doing in class. If it is possible to take a class with him, TAKE IT. You will not regret it. I've learned so much from him! He's super nice, funny & understanding

Had him for intro to field prod. He knows his stuff and wants you to be the best you can. Not an "easy" class, but if you take his advice you'll learn a lot. I got a B even though I realized TVR wasn't my thing. Despite my lack of skill I still appreciate the experience I got in his class. Take him! He's awesome and really funny too. :)

He taught Motion instead of After Affects- Both are good to know, though AE is def the industry standard. This was the first time he taught the class so it was a bit scattered but I learned a lot and the projects were fun. Easy class to get through. You learn more if you take chances and challenge yourself. Tom is the man, he knows his stuff.

Tom's a great guy. He does a better job than most other profs at explaining FCP and the suite. He demands good work but if you aren't lazy you'll do fine. It's a blast having him for this class. Best decision I made all semester. Lectures only a bit and explains everything that will be on the test well. Easy class, learned a lot, had fun.

Tom is a great guy... he's goofy and knows his stuff. He lived and worked in pittsburgh; that's where i'm from so i got on his good side by telling him that, but he doesn't have a bad side! Taught me a lot and gives you lots of creative freedom because he doesn't grade your first few projects. Take him!

Tom is a good professor who will give you plenty of hands on experience by letting you work with basic video and editing equipment. He was clear and inciteful and clearly passionate about the material he was teaching. His critique of student work was also quite helpful. T-Nic is a great guy. Just don't slack in his class or you'll catch hell for it. Tom is very good at teaching new students. Had I known nothing about FCP coming in, instead of knowing more than even Tom, I'd have learned a lot from him.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! He definitely knows his stuff and explains everything extremely well. He doesn't let you get away with anything less than acceptable but is still extremely nice and easy to talk to if you need help. Can't wait to have him again!!
