A teacher that still uses articles from the WSJ from back in 1987. Has a lot of knowledge but he is all over the place and doesn't teach modern ways of doing things. He is stuck on the good ol fashion way and makes you pay for it. Class average was 42 for the midterm in our section and he said it was our fault because we didnt study enough. Avoid

Great class and an amazing teacher. Theres a lot to read but the readings are interesting which makes it easier. Focuses on real life examples instead of math formulas you will never use again. If you know how to read and enjoy investing, take this class, you will learn a great deal. Not a demanding course if you keep up to date.

very nice and knowledgeable teacher. However i find this course very confusing. the material is clear, but you have to refer to a website here, a slide there, and the smallest thing can be on the exam. helpful class, but the outline could easily be made more clear.

Best Professor ever! Literally. If you desire to learn, work hard, want to get to know about finance in the real world, take his class. I have never seen a professor who can combine the theoretical knowledge to real cases so perfectly as he does. Also, he is the chairman of our finance department, and he does care his students very much.

Sooooo many articles!!!! When preparing for one of his exams, be ready to go through EVERY SINGLE thing even if not spoken about in class because he says you might be tested on it. As long as you go to class and do all the readings you will do fine.

If you are not ready to read a ridiculous amount of articles and theories, and go through his maze on first class, then go with a different prof. However, I genuinely learned so much, and the articles are really interesting! But be prepared to synthesis dozens of articles and read the book for each class. His exams are hard; assignments are easy.

He was the director for Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program for a decade since its beginning. He is currently the head of the Finance department at JMSB. His finals can be tough, learn articles by heart guys!

Despite many real-life examples and in depth explanations, the goal is still to get a decently high grade. Good luck reading 50 page articles and remembering the value from a table in 1 single article. Exams require more luck than anything else, as he tends to focus solely on extreme details of 1 or 2 articles, you NEVER imagined would be asked...

Took him during summer only had 6 weeks and he did everything possible hand out unecessary work, said so himself. Every assignment waz completely useless for the exam but he always hands them over the same week!!(UMM...like 15 pages). Gives you 50 page articles with PhD research methodology and then expects you to memorize exact values in tables

Forget it, you will spend the whole semester reading cases and old articles that he explains little about in class yet 60-70% of your grade depends on knowing those articles and cases in and out. Still you're supposed to read the book to be able to answer the remaining 30% multiple choice problems. Not a single problem is solved in class. Horrible!

Stuck doing useless assignments that are exhausting and were never explained at all... not allowing time to study for the actual exam that are impossible. bad teacher, there is nothing positive about the course with him. take Edward wong, if you are smart... don't fall for comments about "learning", u wont pass an exam for entertainment value.

Worst prof I have ever taken in my life! Don believe me? You will after ur midterm. Egotistical, wont help u in any fashion. course is not worth it, even if u do everything he asks you're lucky to get a C. He doesn't care about being fair. Get urself a useful teacher who will prepare an exam that makes sense. No way to prepare for his useless exam

Nightmare. Absolutely ruthless in requirements for exams. Do online quiz, do end of chapter problems, but read case for every class, read like 5 articles before class, Answer question in class or lose 1% of ur mark, different material in class versus book. Firstclass is a mess he just posts everything in his mind..good luck filtering. hate the guy

Avoid Avoid avoid! He gives you like 40page articles to read per class, and you lose 1% if u cant answer him in class! He explains stuff that's not even in the book and yet he wants u to read every single chapter of the book! wants u to do online quizzes as well.Gives u huge assignments right before midterm.Very confusing, disorganized, warned u!!

Amazing. Best Prof I've had so far. He is very clear on what you will be tested on and has amazing control over the class(!!!). Actually uses the book so you don't feel like you bought it for nothing. He's got a good sense of humour and I wish I had him for 411.

The professor is passionate about the subject, but the class is more difficult than it has to be because his midterms and finals are either on material briefly covered in class or material not covered at all. Doing all the suggested textbook problems will only be enough for a C grade.
