Warning: Graduate Level Class! A ton of reading. Not your typical text book reading, either. Grading consists of 2 papers + 2 exams. Nothing else. Lecture heavy from PowerPoint.

Comment:
HIST 4773 is a very difficult class. It requires a great deal of reading and a lot of time on your own rehashing the material and studying. However, it is COMPLETELY possible to end with an A. You must give it your absolute best effort though. I started with a C and ended with an A, and I'm not even a History Major. You can do it!

He is a funny teacher, but his grading scale is not fair or accurate. Do not take this class if you are looking for an A. There are plenty of other professors that will have easier history courses.

Very hard to understand. He's passionate about the class, but lectures are very heavy, & so are his tests. They cover a broad amount of information as there's only a midterm & final, which is your whole grade. Gives study guides, with 80 very dense topics and randomly picks 12 for the test, along with 8 possible essays and picks 4. Brogi is tough!

His lectures are interesting because he is passionate about the subject but don't expect to do well based on that. He gives around 80 ids to learn per test and if you do not use the exact words and make the exact points he wants you won't get credit and same with the essays. I'm a great student, I studied a lot, and I still got a B. Don't take him.

He is not hard y'all are just lazy lol he just expects students to do their best. If you go to class, take good notes and study thoroughly you'll get an easy A. He is an amazing lecturer and explains everything, gives you the terms he will put on the test and essay questions. Pro tip: always answer What When Where What and Why a term is important.

Good teacher but the tests have 80 IDs where you need to know: what happened, when it happened, who it happened to, and the long term effect. Also on tests there were 8 essay questions, tests are hard and he's a hard grader but going to class will help a lot.

Do not take this professor. Your grade is basically dependent on two tests that are graded harder than anything Ive ever witnessed. This was my only B and I worked very hard in this class. Save your gpa and dont take brogi

Very difficult to understand, tough grader that rarely gives feedback or reasoning for the grades he gives. Unless history is your life, you will dread going to this class. Even if you put up your best effort, go to every class, and listen to every word he says, don't expect an A.

Great teacher. Tests are mostly essay. I took this over the intersession, and it still wasn't too bad, and passed with an 'A' easily. If you can write a decent essay answer you will do fine. He even gives you a list of possible topics that will be covered. There's a lot of reading, but basically no homework other than that.

Lots of reading, lecture notes. Lectures are very fast-paced, a terrible amount of info packed into one hour. He is incredibly knowledgeable, but he is a neoliberal conservative and has a clear bias. He also reveled in playing chauvinist TV commercials from the past, enjoying them a little too much for my liking--playing up his Italian-ness.

This professor is the hardest grader I have ever had. He gives really easy quizzes yet is so strict on his tests that many students drop the course- including myself.

Brogi has great insights, and gives a very full account of more than just the when and where of material. Be prepared to care about more than just learning dates and overviews of events. Cold War material is excellent coverage, and you will get a lot of information straight from an expert. Tougher than most, but you get your money's worth!

Do not take this class if you have a hard time writing a paper, or have a problem with tests. he is a very hard grader, and is not very clear on his topics that he takes about. His tests are hard, because if you are not right on what you say then he counts off for it. Do not take this class at all . Take something that you will be able to pass.

If you're not a history major, prepare to be seriously challenged when taking Dr. Brogi's class. He talks extremely fast (it's easy to get behind on taking notes) and is a really tough grader (your English has to be sublime to get an A).

Not the easiest class, but I pulled off an A. Attendance isn't necessary, though it would be in your best interest to attend. His tests are all essay; quizzes are sort of difficult. Just study the chapters in the book, and you will do fine.

Best professor so far at the U of A. If you listen to the lectures and review the text before class you should have no problem doing well. His lectures are interesting and funny. He really gives an interesting perspective on US History (since he's Italian). My favorite professor so far. Love this guy.
