this is my favorite kind of class: i barely showed up, but i got As on everything. this class is easy and not easy. its easy if you stay on top of the material. its not easy because there's a lot of material and its orgo. but yeah, i learned so much on my own and didnt have to be on campus at 8am. wish the other science courses were the same. -.-

He is a very good professor and really cares about what he is teaching. His lectures can be dull at times, but he cracked a few jokes here and there when I took him. He posts all of his old exams on his website and reuses most questions; memorize all the old exam answers and you will get an A in the class and be exempt from the final.

VERY straightforward class and professor - read the notes and go to class consistently, use the posted old exams, and know your reactions backwards and forwards. If you do those things, you will get an A. Great incentive to not take the final!

Professor Roche was probably one of the best professor's I've ever had. Yes his exams are tough and you will have to study hard for them, but it's organic chem... where wouldn't you have to? 3 exams and if you Ace them all you test out of the final. Tests are based off his previous just changed a bit. Study his tests and you at least will get a B.

I wish all professors were like him. You earn your grade, nothing is given. Very articulate. He has been doing this a long time and knows how to teach. Pay attention, study what he tells you, and do not rush the exams. Easy A because of these things. Pretty funny too. No participation required. No textbooks. He takes care of all of that.

Professor Roche is probably one of the most straightforward and fair professors in the science department. His exams come straight from him notes, so the textbook is not necessary. He breaks everything down to the simplest terms and is always available to help if needed.

Roche might be monotone, but is clear and concise. His class consists of 3 exams and if you get an A on all of them, you are exempt from the final. Only grades in the class are the exams. Lecture heavy and you might fall asleep, however entire lectures are posted online.

Great professor. He explains things very well and his exams are beyond fair. He has all past exams uploaded to his website, which all basically ask the same questions. Do all the practice exams and understand the answers, and you will do very well. You don't need the textbook. His review sessions and practice exams were all I needed to get an A.

An absolutely brilliant man and very effective instructor. Seems like he'd be cool to drink a beer with. He brought life to a subject which needed it. I even found joy in recalling the mechanisms and reagents correctly on exams. I did struggle a bit, insomnia oft kept me from recitation. Overall if I'd attended every class I'd have finished better.

Excellent professor, took Organic I with him in the summer and got an A. I had to work for it, but I have a much better understanding of organic chemistry with him as my professor than I otherwise would have. Highly recommend taking him. He's very monotoned though.

Excelent professor. Puts material in an understandable context. No surprises on his exams because he provides old exams from previous years. Very helpful if you don't understand things, but he can be a bit condescending. Sometimes it seems like he is talking down to you.

All you have to do to get an A in this course is go over the notes and go through every single back exam before the exam. About 70% of each exam will be old material from past exams. Lecture is boring as the good professor is extremely monotone but is high in quality. I don't think he cares enough to make the course difficult for his students.

Dr. Roche is indeed very dreamy. :D Go to recitation since you'll learn a lot and no need to buy the textbook. If you need help, go to his office...awesome guy, but don't expect to just study the night before and get an A. Study beforehand and you're do just fine...finals are easy if u study. ;)
