Professor Burgess is an incredible scholar. He has decades worth of academic and scholarly experience under his belt, and is eager to share it. All one needs is to show interest, participate and think about the material and you will learn more in his classes than any other. Burgess always teaches classes that could change how you think about life.

Comment:
Professor Burgess is a very nice man, however the class was very hard to follow and not organized at all. He genuinely cares about a student's academic career, but the teaching method he uses is very hard to follow. Overall, a very fair teacher, but hard to comprehend most of the time.

He's a nice guy, but should seriously consider retirement, has a stutter that makes it nearly impossible to understand what he's saying although he seems knowledgeable on the content. The tests are extremely difficult especially since he makes it hard to prepare for them with reviews, dropped this class quick, which is unfortunate.

He says um.. and uh... all of the time. He's very ADD I think, and blurts things out too? And don't try to see him for 12:30pm office hours, he takes a nap apparently. He's extremely hard to understand, and the quizzes are really difficult too. The papers are supposed to cover the grade in the end, but we'll see.

Gag me with a spoon! Dr. Burgess is the most unorganized & scattered professor I have ever taken a class with. I about poked my eyes out as he tried to "lecture" to our class. I have nothing against him, but his teaching "style" or lack there of, is incredibly incomprehensible! He reminds me of a dog chasing its tail with no success! DO NOT TAKE!!

Prof. Burgess is like the grandfather that wants to help you out in any way possible, but he doesn't make that clear enough so you end up just walking away. Still, he is one of the most caring professor's I ever took a class from so that alone is worth his confusing teaching style

Painful to stay awake in the 2 and a half hor class, don't take a night class with him. Other than that it's not that he's a bad teacher, he's just old and unorganized and it's impossible to take notes with his style of teaching

I didn't think that I'd like this class that much, but it was actually really good. He was totally helpful and didn't grade too hard (shouldn't be too easy, it was a seminar). The discussions were interesting. I would deffinately take a class with Prof. Burgess again!
