Overall a solid professor he likes to make some jokes in some of his lecture notes which helps break up some of the tougher reading. he also gives good summaries on some of the reading and will offer his own thoughts on your work.

He is overall an amazing professor. The class was a lecture class but he made it fun. He is very clear on what is expected. There is nightly reading and then you go over it in class the next day. We only had two papers and two tests, which he is very fair on. Not my usual choice for a class but I enjoyed it!

Daily reading, discussion on that reading the next day. 4 essays make up the vast majority of your grade. Quizzes thrown in if he suspects people aren't reading. Minimal interest is all that's needed to enjoy the class. Genuine guy and great professor. Only annoying part of the entire class is if you sit next to people who refuse to read.

There is three major essays that are really fun to write. The topics are very interesting apposed to an english class. His quizes are open everything and he drops the lowest score. He's very genuine and funny all the time and is really easy to like. I'd take him over again every quarter. He doesn't push his political views or beliefs.

I did pretty good in his class because I showed up. he was super good at teaching us the materials and helped a lot with memorization. he also says a lot of puns and dad jokes but it's light and funny. laid back but a bit of reading and some homework. if you do the work and show up you'll do great

Andrew is good dude. I just had him for Philo101 and really got a lot out of his daily lectures. Philosophy is not always easy to understand but his ability to break everything down really helped me comprehend the stuff that flew over my head. Do the reading, come to class, and don't write lame essays and you will do just fine.

This was my first class ever at SPSCC and Andrew Sergienko was the perfect introduction. Although there are a lot of readings, he does a good job of breaking them down and making them understandable. He is honestly such a funny guy and I would highly recommend this class to anyone.

Andrew is a very fun & relatable guy. But don't take this class if you don't understand Philosophy. I took it to get a better understanding, but he didn't help my knowledge grow in any way. He graded my papers very harshly and didn't even offer to help. There's a lot of reading outside & if you don't understand then you're screwed.

I enjoyed this class. Personally, it was a great start for my 1st class back in college. I found myself continuously interested in the course material and Sergienko did a great job explaining the material in a way that was relatable, understandable, and engaging. I suggest doing the reading but it wasn't required as we went over it in class.

I regret taking that class. At first, he came off as very chill but that was not how he ended towards the end of the quarter. I'm typically a very good student for all classes but NOBODY (but like 3) did "decent". SO. MANY. POP. QUIZZES. He's also so harsh when it comes to grading papers. I would not take again and advise to take a different one.

Super easy class. You write two or three papers, one to two pages each, on a reading. You will pass the class if you do the reading. Expect 20 minutes per day, average. Surprisingly interesting, and gets you thinking. The readings are typically pretty interesting.

Solid class. Good communicator and always well prepared. Great discussion prompts and plenty of time for peer-peer discussion -- definitely would recommend taking on campus and not online.

I feel like I would have enjoyed Andrew much better in an on campus setting. Quizzes and participation points are fairly easy, but discussions about philosophy online just don't engage me the same. I want to clarify, many of my issues are probably more about the class being online than the professor. He gave decent feedback at first, then stopped.

Andrew and his wife both are great teachers. I loved his raw teaching style. Even though being online, he was very present which is hard to come by with an online class sadly. He really got everyone thinking critically and wasn't super strict which I think helps student want to complete homework and succeed.
