Sohn is an excellent professor who makes computer science fun and interesting. There is not a dull moment that passes by in his class. You may hear a lot of negative comments floating around, but you will never know his expertise in teaching until you take his class. 10/10 would take again.

When you listen to him, you will oh I understand what he's saying. After a few weeks passes by, you have no idea and you start to get confused. I got an F in this course and I agree that the course is hard. Try not to take more than 15 credits when taking this course, you will not pass. Sohn is a nice guy but he's tough :(

So it took a few weeks to get used to his accent. Afterwards, you will notice you need to pay attention to his lectures to be able to do his difficult homework's. The homework's are your best study guide to the midterm and final as they are directly based on them. He has the potential to make you change majors.

Sohn/CS 252 gets a bad rap, but its because people don't try/aren't willing to really invest in the course. He is very smart and if you take the time to ask questions and read the book, you can really learn the CS 252 material well.

Personally, I don't like him. He is smart, but he can't teach well. He came to be known as Andrew "Richard Stallman was right, and Jesus was wrong" Sohn. Let that be a warning of his character. He likes to live as "off the grid" as possible, so receiving email replies from him requires patience.

This class is really difficult, but Sohn really gives you all you need to do the homework/do well on the tests. If you pay attention, you really will know the ins and outs of Computer Architecture. Don't delay on homework . He is also really good at answering questions, also has a lot of interesting stories of when he used to work and his experienc

This course requires time and dedication. It's unfortunate that he's no longer teaching this course. However, after I took this course, I was able to gain a lot critical thinking skills, understand what's going on in memory when programming in C .This was a very useful class. The professor had clearly told us how to do the hw. So the gradings fair.

So a lot of guys told me this is the hardest class in NJIT. Indeed, it is hard but if you be careful on the lecture, you should know how to do homework cause Mr. Sohn will tell you how to do. If you know how to do homework you and remember most of your code, you should be fine in the exam. It is totally same as homework programs.

In my humble opinion, he is the best Computer Science professor offered at NJIT. He is very well-versed in his teachings, and he knows how to convey his ideas properly. Super enthusiastic about his teachings and always gives a great vibe within his lectures. He only gets bad rep because of the difficulty of 288. He made me love Comp Sci even more.

Tough class, but Prof. Sohn is awesome. He's enthusiastic about the material, and the coursework forces to you develop your skills - both in terms of abstract/analytical thinking and mechanical/rote stuff like how to do a given task in the unix shell. Tests seem overwhelming at first glance, but the grading is fair and material is not unexpected

I wouldn't say he was easy, but he was fair. He taught you enough material to do the assignments with, but you do have to think and know how to program. If you understand the concept, you can do the programming assignments. His exams are based on lecture, and hw, so as long as you attend class, pay attention and do the hw u do gud and learn alot.

Sohn is strict but for this class it's necessary as it's one of the most important you'll take in CS. Take note of virtually everything he says and do all the homeworks from scratch. If you can get at or above the class average on exams you should be fine. Do not skip class or you'll fall behind very quickly.

Very, very difficult class especially with him. Make sure you know Bash, C, Linux, PHP, SQL, DOM, Python and many other languages before taking this class. Tests are extremely hard. If this is only the section, do the hw from scratch and learn as much as you can before taking this class!

this is a rare class. if you have any interest in learning linux kernel you must take this. you will not find materials or subject on net, not many books on the latest kernel so go to class and take notes. exams are easy if you listen and take notes. you will learn a lot about kernel in 4 months that otherwise would take ages to di yourself

I did absolutely fine in this class because I made sure to listen carefully and do and understand every assignment. If you're really going for Computer Science, this class will tell you if you're serious or not. Never understood how people would sit in the back talking all class, get poor grades, and then complain about how it isn't fair.
