Comment:

Her lectures make things look deceptively simple/straightforward til she grades exams. Nice lady, but only to your face. Her sense of logic as an academic advisor and her mgmt of the food sci prgm are also known to set back and infuriate students. I would seriously look at food sci prgms at other schools before considering Chapman's food sci prgrm.

Don't take this class w/ her!!! She will make you do an unreasonable 3-4 semester's worth of work into one 4-month semester, forcing you to pull multiple all-nighters, only to very likely give you an abysmally substandard grade on them!

She isn't a bad teacher, however her quizzes and tests will kill your grade. I have taken a nutrition class before so this class should have been a breeze but there were tons of questions that were on the quizzes/tests that didn't come up in her powerpoints. I wouldn't take this class with her if you can avoid it, try to get a different teacher.

terrible professor. classes are incredibly boring. "quizes" have very random questions that were not explained during class. same goes for the midterms. the diet analysis project is very time consuming but somewhat interesting. otherwise i wouldn't recommend this class for GE's only take it if you have to for your major

She is very nice and she is always available for outside help, but she is not a good educator. All of the exams are multiple choice and she gives very ambiguous questions. When asked why ambiguous questions were given, her reply is "for critical thinking." I am very disappointed at the teaching I have received in this class.

nice lady, but is not a good teacher. lectures never seem to correlate with the strictness and difficulty of the "quizzes" which are 40 pts. A lot of extra, individual studying is required. I got a B but most ppl in the class got C's. Shes not very leniant on grades and provides little extra credit.

I do not agree with these negative comments. I believe that Dr. Prakash is for the most part straightforward. She gives study guides for every test, that tell you exactly what will be on the test. She will help you with anything, just ask! She is very kind, and I did not find her hard to understand.

I have no idea where all of these bad ratings have come from. I loved having Dr. Prakash for science 100. I learned SO MUCH about food science and it was really interesting. She was very clear and provided study guides before each test that were exactly what was on the test. I got an A in the class and whenever I needed help she was quick to act!

you cant understand a word she is saying and the only part of SCI 100 that she actually tries to teach is about microwaves and nutrition because she is a FOOD SCIENCE TEACHER! i got a 73% in her class and she STILL didn't pass me when I needed a 74% to pass (if you take it pass/fail) and she STILL failed me. DONT TAKE HER! She is the worst :(

As a senior I still cannot forget how horrible this teacher was. She is an extremely nice and intelligent person but the most unreasonable teacher one could ever have. With A's in High School in AP Microbiology AP Anatomy AP Physics and AP Chemistry nothing can compare to this class! This one gets my worst teacher I have ever had award!

Absolutely horrible class! YOU WILL FAIL! Students who never have problems failed this class. It is ridiculous and she is absolutely incompetent when it comes to teaching. Tests cover things that are not in her notes, not focused on, or not even mentioned when you go out of your way to ask what to study for. HORRIBLE is all I have to say!!
