He no longer drops the lowest grade on the exams, and they are extremely difficult. even if you study extremely hard for his exams, you are still going to have trouble doing it because his exams are very very broad. This is seriously the last professor you want to take. AVOID HIM

I wasn't looking forward to taking this instructor after reading about him on here, but I have to say, his May mini online class for POLS wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. He gives 4 exams, drops the lowest grade and assigned a 3-5 page written assignment that counted as 10% of the grade. Overall he wasn't bad in a mini.

Mr. Lanier is a nice professor and generous grader. You will definitely need to attend class and read the chapters if you want to make an A. His lectures do not hit on a lot of the test material, so taking notes will not be enough. Use the online resources he provides. Grade consists of 3 tests (there are 4, but he drops the lowest) and one essay.

DO NOT TAKE. Find another professor and save your time and GPAs. This class ruined my 4.0, professor will ramble all class so it isn't important to go, even though I did and wasted my time, read the book 3 times and you might be okay but the exams are tough and he is very unhelpful.

If you do not like reading then go pick another Political Science teacher. IN ORDER TO PASS ANY OF HIS TEST YOU WILL HAVE TO READ ALL THE CHAPTERS HE ASSIGNS FOR EACH TEST OR YOU WILL FAIL HORRIBLY...He rambles during lectures and doesn't write anything on the board..He's BORING..You get points on random days with your I clicker so thats a plus.

Great prof, loves his field. Drops lowest of 4 test grades, which meant no final for me-I made an A. He uses Blackboard, good because a lot of other profs don't. Use his outlines and take online quizzes. Print reviews and take notes with them. READ the book, some questions are from book only. Rack up Iclicker pts!-could be a ltr grade difference

not good at all he does is talks on and on in class about things that has nothing to do with the subject. makes you buy that 40$ iclicker and all we do is take roll with it. and i read, do the online practice tests, listen to him talk and still not sure what the tests be over. only good thing is that he drops the lowest test grade

OK, I took POLS I in class and squeaked by with a B... couldn't stay awake during the constant lecturing. However, because I liked his 4 tests, drop lowest policy I took him again but as an online course. You have to read the chapters (3 per test) but I made an A+ this time. I took it with my sister and we would split the reading, really helped!

Ok, i took him for polsci1 online. The class is made up of 4 tests and you drop the lowest test grade. He also has 5 discussion topics and if you participate you get 5 points added to your final grade which helps alot! The test were a little difficult, but overall it was a good class. Not as bad as everyone below me says it is! :)

This is the worst class I have taken since being at Lamar. He made us buy a 50 EyeClicker just to check roll. Rambles on off topic and seems to just talk to himself all class. I went to him for help a few times and he just blew it off like I was some preschooler. Can't stand this guy, don't take him.

Ugh. First i thought this class would be easy, then i thought it was so hard, then I ended up thinking it was ok. Hes a pretty horrible teacher, but if you study hard enough for the tests, you will do well. I made a B on the 1st test, C on the 2nd, and A on the 3rd, and came out with an A overall. He does extra credit which is pretty sweet!

Dr. Lanier was a kind, goofy old man who enjoyed rambling off topic. Attendance isn't necessary to get an A in the class. I studied and read the textbook chapters thoroughly and got an A on the first two tests. He didn't require me to take the last because of this, which was totally awesome of him! I recommend taking him!

MOST BORING TEACHER EVER! He is nice enough, but he gets off topic and talks non-stop, staying awake is hard to do in his class. It is an easy class though, I never attended except test days and got an A, just did the book's website practice questions. Only two tests and a paper, and he doesn't care how long the paper is. Easy but boring!
