This class is supposed to be a breeze for everyone. Weekly clips and reflections are basically half an hour long work, readings can be a bit heavy but not doing it won't affect your grades a lot. Classes are oftentimes very dry, but if you are very interested in the topic you will have fun for sure.

I thought that Meek was very knowledgeable about the subject. At first, the information we learned was not very interesting but it does eventually give you new insight about society and language. My discussion leader (Sandhya) was awesome, she really made the class worth taking. Also it was very easy, make sure to turn in assignments on time.

The lectures weren't particularly fascinating or mind-blowing, but Professor Meek is kind and knowledgeable. Definitely an easy class, especially if you do the readings which are easy and pretty interesting. The class did offer a helpful perspective for me on society.

the three quizzes were either really easy or really hard. they were all multiple choice but some of the questions were not very clear. they drop the two lowest homeworks and the lowest quiz

Professor Meek is the worst lecturer I've ever had. She's incredibly boring, she mumbles, and her lectures are confusing. Only take this class if you absolutely have to.

This class was the easiest I have ever taken, a very easy A. I stopped going to lecture half way through the semester because I was not learning much. Prof. Meek was a really bad lecturer, she was very boring to listen to, and mumbled quite often.

Easiest class I've ever taken. Never opened the textbook, never went to lecture. All you need to do to get 100% is do the one page assignment each week, and she drops the 3 lowest grades!! Few lectures I did go to though, she mumbled through the slides and drew on a large audience participation for our opinions. recommended for an easy A.

For this particular class, you have to complete a one page essay at the end of the week about the term assigned for the week. Fairly easy class, depending on your GSI. I rarely go to lecture and I have never opened the "required" books for this course. The lectures aren't useful and Prof. Meek is not the best lecturer. Class material is repetitive.

The class was easy and made for interesting discussion sections. However, the lectures were awful. Prof. Meek mumbled and spoke with a muffled, monotone sound (ironic because sheĆ¢€™s a linguist). She was unorganized and it was hard to understand her or the questions she posed. She obviously is qualified on the material, but is not a good teacher.

The discussion leader grades all the course for the teacher including the essays. It seems that this person does have the skills or the intellect to grasp new ideas or concepts. Sad class!

This class is not very difficult because homework is 40% of the grade, but it is hard to get engaged in the lectures. She is extremely unorganized and doesn't seem to care about learning. She lets out class early about half the time, and doesn't actually teach us about Native Americans. Because of her degree in linguistics, language is the focus.

Great Prof! We learned not only a lot about Native Americans, but about how they get mythologized; that stuff about white knowledge and privilege was particularly insightful.

The class is fairly easy. A decent amount of readings, and the grade is based on 2 in class essays and a take home final essay. I had no interest in taking this course, so as a student looking for an easy R&E requirement, this isn't so bad. Meek is also really nice and likes to get to know all of her students

DO NOT TAKE HER!! Unorganized, boring, cares more about teaching you about knowledge and not about Native American peoples. Essay exams have nothing to do with Native Americans, just on how anthropologists study Native Americans. I would look elsewhere in the NAS community if you are truly interested in studying Native American peoples.

Was really excited to take this class but it was horrible. Lectures have no bearing on exams and on top of that are boring and poorly organized. Teacher is apparently oblivious to this. Everyone just ends up doing tons reading a day or two before the exams which are in class essays. Relatively easy class but is almost painful to endure.

Great class! Actually having a Native American professor teach a Native American course is a PLUS! She was very enthusiastic and fun! Sometimes the readings were dry and boring (not to mention LONG), but overall it was a pleasant experience. Don't be intimidated by the syllabus on the first day, it's not as bad as it looks. Classmates were great!

Fun lectures! Lots of relevant video clips and films that make lecture more engaging. Some readings were horrible, but lecture generally helped clarify them. Lecture topics are personally relevant, and you can tell she knows what she's talking about. It's also cool to have a Native American teach a Native American class.
