Everyone I know in this class was miserable and wanted to drop the course... and a lot did. I went to him to get extra help and I felt like he had no interest and kept making side comments about how the answer to my questions were obvious and I felt like he just wanted me to leave,

WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!! SO MEAN. yelled at us the first day for not being able to locate a small country on the map!! extremely hard tests, extremely rude person. be prepared to study for weeks and still get a 50. He is a smart man, but should NOT be teaching. RUN WHILE YOU CAN

I have him for Interantional Environmental Issues which is part of the required courses for the International Studies minor. If you have him be preparied for small assignments and having to give a report from articles in the New York Times. His lectures are very dry and boring, but he does goes beyond the powerpoint and textbook to explain concepts

Dr. Z is a very tough professor, but he is the best professor I ever had. He is so knowledgeable and if you take the time to talk to him, he is a wonderful person. I have taken him for a few different classes and loved every single one of them. One semester he tok our class on a field trip and I learned so much that day. I reccomend him to anyone

This guy was ridiculous. When the average test grade for his class is between a 58% and a 74% , one would think that he should reevaluate the way he is teaching. Barely got through it. Not even the least bit enjoyable. Just a nasty person. Should not be teaching anyone.

He's very strict. Expects you to be all about his class and treat it like is your major. Very closed minded and cocky. Tests cover only some of the material he talks about.

Dr Z is strict but reasonable and the work is do able. He gives a study group before for each exam no of my other professors did this. His class is very interesting and his stories and pictures are amazing.

His is very smart and his class is extremely interesting. The downside is he is just straight up rude. He makes rude comments to students if they come in late or just about anything. He does have study sessions before each test and suggest going but be prepared to be judged by him. He would be an amazing professor if he had manners.

If you can drop his class on day 1, do so. He is mean! I went to the hospital and missed his exam and he almost didn't let me take it cause he thought I went to the hospital for fun. I had to bring in all of the discharge papers even though my Doctor gave me 2 days off note, he still said that I went for fun. He's not understanding at all.

Assigned ridiculous amounts of excess reading only to provide no guidance on what was would be tested. Tests were unfair as pp slides weren't available to study and fillintheblanks were vague to the point of incomprehension. Tests and excessive readings are the main reason I did not enjoy this course, despite strong interest.

While intelligent and interesting, he is also smug and self indulgent. He is rude not only to students but to other faculty. He speaks poorly of other profs right in class, it's very unprofessional. Makes rude remarks if you answer a question wrong, expects greatness on every project. It's a shame such brilliance is paired with such pompousness.

He is strict and opinionated to the point of abrasiveness. That being said, he is extraordinarily knowledgeable. You will learn a lot, but you have to go to class. He frowns upon poor attendance and lateness. This class is essential for Env Sci majors, as it details the regulatory side of the environmental field that other classes don't touch upon.

Tough teacher, but i really did learn a lot. You HAVE to go to this class, to get attendance points, if you miss more than five times you get a zero for participation, and that will hurt you. STUDY for the map quiz! Easy 50 points. ASK HIM for extra credit before the semester ends, easy & it will help your grade! I would take him again.

He knows his stuff and if you don't pay attention, you won't knwo how to catch up. He is intimidating but it makes you pay attention and learn. He is a wonderful teacher. I'd recommend him for sure but beware, he gives hard tests, 75 pts each. As long as you read the chps, pay attention in class, take notes, and study, you're golden.

This was my favorite class this semester. I enjoyed it so much that I'm considering picking up Geography as a minor. The things that I learned in this class were actually useful to my life. It inspired me to want to help the world/environment. It is work and you do have to pay attention but it is worth it. Ziegenfus knows his stuff.

How you feel about ziegenfus will depend on why your at college. if you are here to learn...you'll think he is great. If you are not here to learn- well, you'll think he sux. His lectures are interesting and full of USEFUL information. His lectures are like an unfolding story. Take his class for environmental awareness. you'l get your moneys worth!
