I had Basil for Public Speaking and the class was very easy. I am taking another class under him this semester and it also seems to be super easy. The grading is fair, in my opinion an from my experience.

I hated this class! Not only did we have pointless homework, but his basis for grading was completely unreal. He counted off points for crazy stuff, and if you think you fixed it in the next speech, he counted off for something completely different that he gave you high scores on the last time. very bias towards girls the guys in the class made way better grades. i was always getting marked off on points when other people said that they wish they could have done well as I did.

I loathed this class! It just seemed that no matter what I did, he always found something to mark major points off for. The work besides the speeches was quite pointless. Like another reviewer said, he is definitely biased towards the males. Females just don't do as well in his classes. Period.

I found him to be kind of bias. Not that he gave all girls bad grades but I will say that no matter how poor of quality the guys speeches were they always seemed to make very high grades. Yes, some did deserve it but others not so much.
