Get ready to be immersed in reading and homework. Assignments are helpful and I learned a lot, but the weekly readings are extensive and excessive! A lot of the questions seem opinion-based, so make sure to back it up, or they may be the wrong opinion...

Look at his rating people! Don't make the same mistake I did. He is probably one of the worst teacher at ODU. He comes totally unprepared and makes corny jokes. Harsh in grading and the very unclear on reviews and the textbook is pointless.

AVOID Overbaugh. Thank God for those Indian lab workers who helped me a Great Deal. I recieved an A in his class just like every class(4.0gpa)but it was not because of him. I missed an absurd amount of work & family time to put a plethra of hours into getting free tutoring with lab personnel. They should be the ones getting paid big bucks. Not him.

Dr. Overbaugh is not interested in spoon-feeding information to his class. If you want that kind of teacher, enroll in a different class. He expects his students to be active learners. And although he is sometimes difficult to get in touch with outside of class (he is very busy) I have found him very willing to provide guidance when needed.

He does not teach. He is usually unorganized, which wastes class time and he expects you to know what to do for assignment instead of teaching you. If I wanted to find out something on my own and save $500 I would!! I need to be TAUGHT...isn't that what I am paying him to do? He's never available

Undergrads often expect to be told exactly what to do (and unfortunately, so do some grad students). Dr. Overbaugh expects you to think critically and not just to complete an assignment to satisfy him. He wants you to learn something! Sometimes he is a bit unclear, but he will help you if you ask.
