Great professor to have for Spanish. I took 101 and 102 with her and I learned a lot. I speak Spanish frequently now, especially since I live now in AZ. Highly recommended!

I went into this class with prior spanish but rusty. She was so rude and acted as if everyone KNEW the language already. She had her favorites and missed quite a few days of class. Im not sure if she teaches @ JJC anyomore as I took her 3 semesters before now. But I wouldnt recommend!

Really tough professor. The whole grade is based off of the midterm and the final and she's always giving you homework! She's obviously enthusiastic about her field and stuff, but still really tough and not ashamed to embarrass you if you get the answer wrong. If you want a challenge, take her, if not, DON'T.

This is my third year at JJC and this is the only bad teacher I have had. The class wasn't that bad, it was her! She makes the students feel bad and embarrased in front of everyone if you dont get the answer correct. I dropped out half into the semester because I couldnt take her anymore! Out of 30 people in the class there was 17 when I left!

She wants you to teach yourself the language as a person who has never had spanish before I think she should help those who need the help and not be so rude and understand that Spanish is not everyone's native language.

I am in my 4th semester at JJC and Dr. Arias is the only bad professor that I have had. I worked very hard and received an A in the class, but she does not treat her students with respect. I found her to be arrogant. It was a very unhealthy atmosphere. If you already know Spanish, you might enjoy the class, but don't expect support from her.

I wouldn't recommend taking her for Spanish. She insists on you learning her way of doing things but then is regularly absent from class. Didn't enjoy participating in class because if you messed up she would make you feel pretty dumb. However, she actually seems like a nice woman and would probably be fun to hang out with, just not in class.

Worst teacher I ever had. I ended up dropping her class in the middle of the semester. She was very rude to everyone, everyday. If you didn't get something right on the homework, she got super mad, even though she wouldn't help you to figure out what you did wrong. She expected us to figure everything out on our own. I WOULD NOT TAKE HER!!

Doctora Arias is so smart and lots of fun! I almost chose not to take her course b/c of some of the ratings here, but I'm glad that I disregarded. If you do your homework and come to class, she's not that difficult. We were even allowed to bring in Spanish music for the cultural aspect of the course. Dra. Arias offers her students a wealth of info!

Doctora Arias is overall a great teacher. The only reason others may have felt that she made them feel stupid for not knowing the material is because they never studied and expected to learn a new language by simply attending class. I would recommend Arias for serious students who actually want to learn Spanish, not just get a passing grade.

She is a good teacher for those who actually want to learn the language and are not just looking for a credit. Her tests are very difficult though and she focuses on speaking and culture as opposed to her just lecturing and memorizing. She is a good teacher with high expectations. You can't be lazy and have to keep on top of the homework.

she was completely unhelpful and rude. she made people feel stupid on a regular basis, and she thought that spanish should be everybody's number one priority in life. she makes you do homework every night but doesn't grade you on it and her tests are ridiculous. on top of that, she ****ed over my good GPA. don't take her class.

Expects a lot from the students. A lot of vocabulary. But that's a given in a intro class to a language class. Once you get to know she's very helpful, but does not like lazy students she will make you feel stupid. Make sure you know your vocab.

She's an ok teacher. I didn't feel like I left the class ready for the next section. Even if you keep up with your homework, she makes you feel stupid if you get the answer wrong. I wasn't looking for a free ride but I was hoping to have a teacher that respected and helped me instead of one that made me feel like an idiot.

I love Doctora Arias. She is fun and motivating, and if you study for the test, you will get an A! She lets you bring Spanish music to class and you listen to that as you move around the room and greet one another in Spanish. It is a very relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Personally,I wasn't a fan of her teaching. She isn't,however,a bad teacher. She's passionate about the language and speaking. The tests,in my opinion, were very difficult. She has a fun personality, but I don't feel prepared for the next level of Spanish.I recommend another teacher if you really want 2 learn. If u're super motivated, it wont be too bad.
