Comment:
Professor Neiderman has been one of, if not, the worst professors I've had here at Kent State. Her expectations are never clear, and instructions are incredibly vague. Neiderman does not respect her students AT ALL and she's very condescending. She will never provide extensions, even if Kent's website is down. Feedback is rarely helpful.

Arguably the worst professor I've ever had. Assignments are unclear and often contradictory. Feedback is not helpful and sometimes rude. Even following the book and lectures, my writing was still barely passible to her, even though writing is usually one of my stronger subjects. Take anyone else--it is highly unlikely you can get stuck with worse.

Her 7PM deadlines show no regard for students with jobs or commuters who need extra time. As someone in both of these categories I can tell you I don't have the precognition to work in these time frames. The coursework will feel like a juggling act with more flaming bowling pins than you practiced with. Keep moving fast enough and you might survive

Constantly told that my writing was not clear and concise even after trying on multiple occasions to learn how to be more concise. Hardly ever got feedback that I wouldn't deem rude. One such example is, "Do not use repeated, redundant, unnecessary, or empty word choice or phrasing."

She expects way too much out of students that take the class. I'm a CCP student who tested into it, and I usually have A's and B's but this will be the first C I will get. We are writing an 8-10 page "research paper", only it is not a research paper but rather another argumentative essay. She didn't make that clear until 3 days before the due date.

Easily one of the worst professors I have ever had. Too much work was assigned for the level a Kent core class is, and she seems to think your life revolves around her class. One of the first assignments was to read a full length book over the course of two days! I would recommend taking ANY other professor for College Writing II.

Comment:
My expectation for this class was to be writing different types and styles of writing to compare what the strengths and weaknesses of the styles were. With that expectation, I was disappointed. There was only one major subject and one writing style she wanted, no exceptions, and a limit on the research (5 years). Very restrictive. No creativity.

I should've tested out of this class, but I'm glad I didn't because I have gotten a lot out of it. Although her essay prompts are vague, Professor Neiderman is always available to talk you through it either by email or through office hours. She gives a lot of feedback which has helped my writing improve immensely. Course is work heavy but worth it.

If you email her and ask questions for help, she will have your back. I emailed her so many times this semester with questions and rough drafts. She always got back to me in an efficient manner. Professional writing is very hard. You will not be successful if you don't spend time on the homework assignments or ask questions.

I had her for College Writing and had a horrible experience. Unbelievably tough grader, which would fine if her instructions were clear but they are not. For a Kent core class there is way more assignments than I would ever imagine and you should expect to never achieve 100% on any of them. I would never recommend this professor for any class.

I don't mind tough graders, but it should be absolutely clear what is expected of me. This professor is a tough grader, but her prompts are unclear. She refuses to give a 10/10, instead she will give a 9.5 even when all criteria are met. Some very important medication was late and I was sick, and she basically told me to get over it.

Terrible experience. I would advise honors freshman and any student to avoid this professor. She is consistently rude and disrespectful to students. She is demoralizing and demeaning. Her grading criteria is non-existent, and prompts are vague. She tends to be emotionally manipulative and conducts her class with a God-like complex. WORST CLASS EVER

DO NOT take any class taught by Prof. Neiderman. I am absolutely amazed that she even has a job at Kent State. After the third week of the semester I was trying to switch professors. I just finished my first semester of Freshman Honors Colloquium with her and I am required to take another whole semester with her. Unclear, rude, not helpful, awful.

It is baffling how she is allowed to teach paying students. This was my first (and last) foray into the Kent State College of English. I had taken my two basic English classes elsewhere, and I have never been more thankful for that then right now. Worst learning experience of my Kent State career (120 credit hours, just graduated), look elsewhere.

All of her prompts are vague, yet she still grades extremely tough. You never know what she wants or what will come next. Only homework was writing papers and the occasional presentation. She's friendly, but not a good professor. Worst complaint: her grading and lack of helpfulness.

Worst professor that Kent State has to offer. She is clearly slipped through the cracks and keeps her job because of her "relationship" with the program director. Don't waste your time and money on someone who will give you nothing for it.

Never before have I had a professor that requires so much and gives so little help. Prepare to write countless papers that have absolutely nothing to do with the book you are required to read. Her feedback is very critical and does not offer ways to actually improve. She can be rude in class. BEWARE.

DO NOT TAKE BEVERLY NEIDERMAN. I can't even begin to describe the stress that she has put me through for an ONLINE COURSE IN MY SENIOR YEAR. She's rude, condescending, and has zero respect for her students. In my four years at KSU, she's HANDS DOWN the worst professor I've ever taken. Work my ass off and I am nearly failing her course.

NEVER EVER EVER TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, she is rude and could care less to give anyone a nice grade they deserve, prepare to NOT have a life at all. You work? She doesn't care, 7pm is when all assignments are due. And you'll never know what she's asking you to do!!!

Probably one of the toughest professors i have ever had. I would like to believe that she excepts all of her students to enjoy spending their time writing 10 page papers every 2 weeks. She fails to give feedback on long papers, and expects you to understand what she is implying when she leaves notes on blackboard. Save yourself from this class!
