This course is to get you ready for either grad school or employment after college. Alot of chapter summaries and course work, but they prepare you and you are going to have to do them in the future. It is a Pass/fail course and he is fantastic and helpful. As long as you are organized, on your phone, and do your work there is no reason for a fail.

Fantastic. This was an introduction class. Everything psyc. What to do next or what you want to do. Never boring. This was a pass or fail course. Whatever you do, NO PHONES or Talking with others while he or anyone else is talking. He is not afraid to kick people out. But if you are a student their to learn he will help or find out the answer.

This is a very easy and at times intersting class, and it is important for weeding out which psychology majors want to stay. However, Dr. Southerly could be, simply put, mean at times. He was too harsh for such a low level, easy, pass/fail course. He's leaving the university soon and I think that that's best- he seems burnt out.

Dr. Southerly is a man who told us he didnt want to teach anymore. We only went to class once a week and this was for group presentations. All the learning for this course was done on our own. Going to class felt like a waste of time and I would not recommend him for the introductory psyc course.

Dr. Southerly is awesome. This is a boring required course set up by the psychology department. It is graded on Pass/Fail. The course is designed to help you decide whether psychology is for you and what you want to do with it. In my opinion, these are concepts you should research on your own time and are responsible for. A course is not neccessary

You are graded on 3 exams (you can retake), attendence, online quizzes, and 6 discussion boards. He gives extra credit if you have atleast a 70% on every assignment. You can get up to 2 bonus points on quizzes and can take 4 extra credit 10 point quizzes for up to 4 bonus points potentially boosting you a grade letter. Show up read and you got an A

Huge amount of effort required for a 1 credit class. You must type a 1-page summary of each book chapter assigned, in addition to other assignments/papers. 85% of the lecture time is spent preaching to the class about behaving like adults, being responsible, etc. Very little instruction related to the actual course topic.

Southerly is one of those professors you detest for making you work so hard for so little. This class 397 is a one credit class yet he makes you do all this work as if it's worth more.

Dr. Southerly is honestly an amazing professor. He cares about his students, he offers extra credit, and he is overall a really great asset to the Psych department at FSU. Make sure you do your work, show up to class, and you will do fine. Dr. Southerly is also a great advisor. 10/10 would recommend.

Show up Tuesday, boring lecture and he just talks and talks. Somewhat good teacher but makes you want to fall asleep. Every Thursday is an extra credit class where it is basically the same thing. Each week there are online assignments that are very easy but time consuming. Tests are tough because he doesn't teach all material. Overall easy class.

Boring class altogether. The material isn't that interesting but its whatever. The class is kind of hard not to pass. I barely went and still ended up with a 88.8%. Though it can be a pain, just showing up can be the difference between an A and a B. The exams are not that bad as long as you listen to the lectures. The homework is basic but tedious.

You typically only go to class once a week and the other day is treated as an extra credit day, homework assignments are easy and online, tests are kinda tough but if you study you'll do fine on them

As the chair of the psyc department, he gives straightforward lectures with no surprises. gives online module quizzes and 3 tests. If you write down the powerpoint material and study it you'll definitely be good to go on the tests. Just show up and pay attention really.

Very boring when he talks, makes everybody sleepy. He may say a couple jokes about sex lol. No quizzes in class only online. 3 exams for the whole semester. Wouldn't recommend him but he's not that bad.

He is knowledgeable and friendly. It is lecture only in class. He does discussion boards. You can retake quizzes and tests many times. There are no surprises. He did not leave a strong impression. Lectures are somewhat dry but he is a nice enough guy. Easy A.

This class is most all online. The only time you will ever go to class is to listen to him explain the class, and then for group presentations. Your grade in the class is based off of online quizzes and discussion board posts. This class isn't that hard, you just have to actually be motivated to do the work.

He didn't do much lecturing. He really relied on his graduate assistants to teach class. Over all, easy course. There will be online homework with class discussions. Be sure to participate in those, and keep up with readings and you'll do fine.
