Comment:
I have never dealt with a professor so rude. He makes microbiology unnecessarily difficult and doesn't care about his students. He picks favorites and lies then backtracks. At the very last minute he changed his grading criteria and misplaces student's work. The class is interesting but his lectures are boring and exams don't match the objectives.

I said the attendance is mandatory but he doesn't post attendance pts for the grade. The class is very lecture heavy, listening to him shifting through powerpoints giving no time for students to keep up with their notes. He didn't post the same powerpoints used in class online which made it difficult to study for test materials.

Knowledgeable, lecture heavy instructor. Enjoyed learning in this Bio class. Instructor --very informative. Really enjoyed the genetics chapters. Challenging tests-- material included was sometimes surprising. Taking Bio II this semester. Prof. engaged in material. Study often, read, re-read material, ask questions, study groups help.

This professor was the worst, as I use professor very loosely. He was ALWAYS late, never accessible and we never had full class time. He looked like he rolled out of bed to half heartily teach. Ex. We had a huge lab test and he took too much time squeezing in more lecture time that cut into the lab and he basically would say Oh too bad. UNORGANIZED

Professor Harms is a really great professor, he clearly enjoys teaching and is very enthusiastic about it. The only problems are his tests, he doesn't let you know what's on the test at all and expects you to know EVERYTHING that was taught. His test are mix of multiple choice and short answers, short answers questions are worth A LOT of points.

Harms clearly loves what he does and is passionate about what he teaches, which is great to see in a professor. However, he gives a very vague study guide for tests, if you can call it that. Review course objectives given in the study tab on blackboard, but it's easy to study the wrong things since there is no clear outline. Study hard and often.

I took AP Bio in HS & thought this class was easier/more surface level. The chapter assignments/online labs are super easy 100s. Tests are taken in person so they actually need to be studied for, but watching the lecture videos and taking notes on the chapter objectives are key! He explains things very well & you only need the online textbook.

Professor Harms was the worst teacher I had at Meramec. Lectures were vague & tests were very in depth. Some topics were never discussed in class but they were on the test. The lab practical was INSANE! We were never tested over lab material & then we had 1 lab test over EVERYTHING that was done in lab. Take anyone but Bob Harms! Youve been warned

Dr. Harms was the worst teacher I ever had in my college experience. It was never clear what to study. He talked about very basic topics during lectures but the exams were much more in depth, and lecture outlines won't help. He missed total 5 classes, cancelled 2 labs and actually tested us on the subjects he didn't even teach. Labs were joke

Dr. Harms is a great professor! Lectures are clearly outlined. He includes a lot of visuals and explanations to help with topics. He provides material to study for the exams. Study the outlines and worksheets and you will be ready for the exam. Very kind and lighthearted. Do your work, you'll do well. He is willing to help any student on anything!

I LOVE Dr. Harms. I am currently in his microbiology class. He makes everything so clear and is incredibly helpful on labs. I would take him again for sure. His class has become my favorite class. His tests are not difficult if you study and learn the material. He provides test outlines that help a bunch. Plus he is very quick on grading.

He's not easy and you'd need to study his lectures and outlines; memorize here and there. However, I enjoyed the atmosphere of his class. He's willing to help with questions but before you ask, do your research or ask your group/friend in class. We didn't use the book much (advice: try reading the chapter summary before the test)
