Comment:

Has a horrible sense of humor. Frequently tardy to class. Grading criteria completely subjective, all essays. Class varies with a either a lecture, a video, or a group discussion based on the readings. He gave a painfully inaccurate lecture on nuclear fission. Overall he is somewhat moody. I didn't always know what to take away from his class.

Most other students are ranting about this prof, but I really don't think he was that bad. I got a poor grade on the midterm because the TA ripped it apart, but otherwise if you attempt to form strong assertions and write semi-decently you can get a good grade on most anything. The worst professor at the U. He is an angry, arrogant man and after awhile you almost feel sorry for him. He is disrespectful and has no focus to his material. A very interesting subject but he does nothing to promote interest in it. All he encourages is agreement with his paranoid opinions. If you have him for a class drop it and take it later.

I loved the course but HATED the prof. Readings were interesting but a lot of writing. Seidel is arrogant and rude. Be prepared for rants on how you are worthless student and he will try to push his opinions on you. He is vague on how he wants you to write papers but then docks you if you don't say/write what and how he wants. Worse prof ever.

Let's just say that after we turned in our first paper, Dr. Seidel came to the next class fuming and told us that our most useful career skill was knowing how to say, "Would you like that super-sized?" Other than that, this professor is very knowledgeable and expects a lot from his students, which is not a terrible thing. He's still cruel, though.

This professor is the worst I have ever taken. I would not recommend him to anyone. He is an example of what happens when professors spend too much time in acedemia. He has lost touch with what is important in the course material and focuses too much on trivial details. Not a good course, very nitpicky grader and hard to understand in lecture.

I agree that you need to DROP THIS COURSE NOW. It sounds so interesting, but he lectures about irrelevant material, and definitely whines way too much about how we know nothing and he knows everything. This class should be at least 4 credits and writing intensive. There were at least 30 pages of writing. DROP IT.

Seidel is arrogant and spends time showing off information he has acquired doing many things that do not involve this course. He gives little indication of what will be tested on the exams, and requirements for a final paper are ambiguous at best. He can be rude and disrespectful to the students. Knows material but falls short with rapport.

He's not arrogant. Far from it. If the previous poster had attended class, he or she would have figured that out. Seidel does, however, expect students to take some pride in their work and I guess this doesn't sit well with the slacking/snoozing crowd. I had a great time in this class and I met some good people. I recommend it.

Spends too much time whining about the quality of work he received. The problem is that Siedel will lecture the whole class about issues he should take up with individuals. I did my work and didn't want to hear his whining. Not a good learning environment
