If you want an easy A, this is your guy. If you want to actually learn something, look elsewhere. He always gets sidetracked during lectures and talks about his many trips around the world. All tests for most of his classes are just from the book. If attendance wasn't mandatory I would have never shown up and I still would have gotten an A.

Barthel is really nice and caring. But his teachings aren't as great. We went over slides very vaguely. Wished he was more clear in his presentations. I was confused mainly what we were trying to learn. The textbook was what taught me more and going over the slides. You will get an A easily but the test are too dense and LONG if you don't read!

Awesome professor. Hes super caring. Will answer your questions and help you out if you need it. Theres tons of work, but You can work at your own pace. The final is just the regular test questions mixed around. Take this if you need health for your generals. Easiest A.

Barthel is a really smart guy, he knows his stuff! It is very hard to sit through one of his lectures. He reads the power point basically word for word which makes me wonder why I can't just do that at home? He gets off on some weird tangents that has nothing to do with class. The class was easy enough. The test are usually a lot harder.

Maybe it's just me, but the tests we had to take were harder than all of my AP classes from high school combined. You had to seriously study that textbook cover to cover to get even close to 100%. Luckily, the final was a combination of all of the questions on the tests so if you can study those ones well, the final is easy.

Barthel is a great guy, kind and smart; just real BORING. He is extremely comparable to Ben Stein in 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'. Super easy class, he lectures the whole time in his quiet-ish voice. Easy to work with. 1 Research Paper, 2 Tests, 1 Older Adult Review, 1 Site Visit. Useful class for nursing home careers.

I do not recommend taking any classes by Brian Barthel. I took his class because I was interested in the subject but taking his class made me dislike it. He made his tests much more difficult than they had to be. He does not reply to messages, apparently he does not check canvas which is very annoying.

Took this class online over the summer. It wasn't bad. Work at your own pace. Read the chapter, take a quiz (unlimited attempts), then a test. Only a few homework questions, really straightforward. All on canvas, so I used my book for everything. I would just skim the chapter, then find most of the answers online. Final was in the testing center.

I also took the online class. There was nothing particularly difficult, but it was incredibly time consuming. This 2 credit class devoured more time than my two 3 credit classes put together. Also, Barthel never once responded to any emails I sent him. Definitely not my worst college experience but I'd avoid taking him again.

I took the online class. Quiz and test every week and assignments added on every once in a while too. Textbook required. It's not hard but it takes a long time to read and take the quiz and then study for each test. There's nothing special about the class. It's fairly straightforward and exactly what you'd expect out of an online health class.

Prof. Barthel gives a quiz and test for each chapter in the book. If you are honest and don't cheat on the tests it is extremely hard! You basically have to memorize each chapter. I emailed him many times during the semester with questions and he never responded! For me it was the hardest and most unpleasant experience I had at UVU. Don't take!

Dr. Barthel is really a nice guy and he really knows his stuff about the community health world. That being said, he is not a good lecturer at all. His lectures are extremely boring, because he mostly just reads straight off the slides, which contain copy & pasted paragraphs usually straight from the textbook. Class isn't hard, just really boring.

Took this class online and it was SO EASY. I did all 17 chapters in a week and then once the final opened took it and got an A. The final is basically test and quiz questions, so make sure you know all of that material and do the study guide! The work was super easy, a quiz and test for each Ch and a few written assignments. Don't stress! Easy A.

His teaching methods are pretty confusing. He reads from his powerpoints in a mumbling way from the back of the classroom. His assignments aren't very clear. I wouldn't recommend this class--just lots of confusion.

I took this class online and it was the easiest A. I procrastinated the entire semester and was still able to get everything done. Everything is done from the book and there are only a few assignments. There's a quiz and test for each chapter and you'll do fine if you read the material. Final is basically questions from all the testsquizzes.

I really enjoyed the professor, but the class is pretty dull. Just the material is not all that exciting..I mean who enjoys learning about getting older. Brian is a great guy who definitely knows his stuff. I would take a class from him again.

Did not learn one thing from this teacher. The only reason I went to class is because it is required. All he did was tell stories about himself. No instruction was clear. Very unorganized. Not a hard class but it is a pointless class.

Dr. Barthel was a great teacher, I just didn't like the subject matter of the class. I had to take it for my Community Health Major. Modifying Health Behavior just didn't interest me to be honest. There is a quiz for each chapter in the book that are fairly easy. The tests are difficult, so make sure to study. One group project that is pretty easy.
