He is the most narcissistic prof I have ever had. This is a core class which is supposed to be teaching core ethnographic material. He only talks about his work and even assigns his own research for the assignments. His lectures are all over the place and he almost whispers when he speaks.

I really liked him but you either get it or you don't. Connecting with him outside of class is a good idea. I loved his lectures. He's very passionate and is happy when you speak up in class. He really cares about his students so show him respect and you'll get it back (don't talk to friends in class, don't leave in the middle, etc.).

Took his beyond genes and circuits class because i needed it for my schedule. The class was unstructured and nothing like it was lead on to be. He assigned a 10-12 page case study which was a huge perfect of our grade without a rubric or any sort of guidelines. not to mention he is the most boring speaker ever and his class put me sleep a lot!

Nothing positive to say about his class except that I didn't put much effort into it and still did well.

Great guy, mediocre prof, chooses the worst TAs. Goes off tangent all the time, but he's passionate and will give you extra resources and help if you need it.

Dr. Noble is a nice man, but not the best professor. He tends to speak a lot about very few terms and neglects actually teaching and guiding us through the rest of the topics. If you are interested in anthropology, then this may be a fun course, but if you are not into anthropology, save yourself and don' t take his course.

I really enjoyed this class with Dr. Noble! The subject matter was a little dense, but he always took time to work through it with the class. He's incredibly kind and approachable, and helped me work through my final paper outside of class. Definitely recommend!

Incredible professor, I wish I had him for both fall and winter semesters. He is interesting and his lectures grab your attention. He has had hands on experience and it is evident during his classes. I absolutely love him and I hope to have him again in the future. 10/10 would recommend!

Professor Noble is incredibly passionate in what he does, and that really shines through his lectures. He makes the concepts easy to understand, as well as making sure the class participates to see if we actually get the concepts. Super caring, wants you to pass and love Social Anthropology. Wish I could have him again!

Smart, at times complex thinking, but he found ways to really make you learn what anthropology is all about by putting the ideas into contexts that students get. really makes you want to do more anthropology, more ethnography, and see how it is important in peoples lives

Noble is a great, dedicated man and professor. He treats his students with the utmost respect and takes care for their appreciation in the subject matter he is teaching. He has an excellent, but subtle sense of humour that can often be lost on those younger students perhaps taking their afternoon nap...

Professor Noble is extremely kind and thoughtful. If you speak to him about any issues you're having with the subject matter, he can usually clear it up better than he has in class. He is passionate about it, and wants you to succeed. After taking 2 classes with him, I know firsthand how much he cares about his students. He has been very kind to me

He is very passionate and excited about his material. Disorganization may give him a bad reputation but his excitement about the subject and obvious joy at seeing a student grasp a concept or provide meaningful feedback far outweighs anything negative. readily gives out extra credit assignments and extensions. Keeps class relevant to current events

Dr. Noble does often get a bad rap, which is not entirely fair. He is a wonderful and brilliant individual, who has interesting work in current issues in Canada today. He is the epitome of an intelligent Anthropologist. The issues I took, however, is the organization (which sometimes related to the university), as well as the number of texts.

Really brought us to the cutting edge of the issues in Canada. Came away understanding the history and politics, and know how I fit into it all. It was easy as soon as I got into the ideas.

This prof is a horrible teacher. I'm not sure if he ever taught a lecture with any style or organization to it. He is a horrible lecturer and incredibly lazy as he leaves students to teach the class, he only ever taught one full class the rest were student seminars and guest speakers. He is a horrible teacher, he will bring your GPA down!

Dr. Noble is the best professor I've ever had at Dalhousie University and ever. I am graduating from my masters and I still reflect back on how his Indigenous Studies class changed my life. We were encouraged to think critically and motivated to work hard. Dr. Noble is one of the most gracious and kind, passionate human beings I've ever known.

Brian is a wonderful person and an excellent teacher. 3185 is a seminar, the whole point of which is that there aren't supposed to be lectures. Brian cares deeply about his subject and his students, and Dalhousie is lucky to have him. He'll expect you to work and think, and if you do that, his classes will be interesting and beneficial.
