Dr. Whitfield makes learning about the New Testament as enjoyable as possible. He is quirky, but he loves his students and I would highly recommend him. His exams are pretty straight forward just prepare for his essay questions. Also, he grades on the point system which is very helpful.

Dr. Whitfield is amazing! He is very knowledgeable about Old Testament. His exams are tough, not gonna lie. He also has quizzes very often, but as long as you do the reading you will usually do fine. He is a really nice professor and is easy to talk to.

Dr. Whitfield is one of the Religion departments best. He's not an easy A, but you will learn so much from his class and makes the material interesting. He is also one of the most caring people I have ever met. If you get the chance to talk to him outside of class, do so. Again, not an easy professor but worth it.

Dr. Whitfield was an amazing religion professor! I walked into his classroom with typical knowledge of the Old Testament and walked away feeling like a scholar. He assigns either online quizzes or in-class quizzes daily. Reading in this class is crucial to understanding and learning. He is very accommodating and he is always willing to help!

Dr. Whitfield is a wonderful professor. He gave quizzes daily (in class or online), and had many extra credit opportunities. His lectures were intriguing and he was accessible outside the classroom. If you complete the study guides, the exams are easy. Also, be prepared to read.

Dr. Whitfield was a great professor! He made the material easy to understand, and is helpful when it comes to test reviews. His tests aren't hard if you study, but he tells you what to expect. There are reading quizzes at least every other class period, so make sure you read. But overall, he's a great teacher and cares about his students.

Dr. Whitfield is one of the best professors I've had. His tests are the easiest, but if you really study on your own, you will get an A. There are a few mini projects during the year and quizzes in class every meeting so study up.

Dr. Whitfield is a must have professor for CHR 101. We just have to READ. He gives reading quizzes everyday, but he counts your 10 highest ones before midterm and the other ten highest after midterm. In addition, one can answer selected questions from the book to replace low quiz grades. Also, the study guides are just like the tests.

Good professor but not easy. He's very knowledgeable of the text and material. A very fair teacher. Gives detailed study guides for tests, which includes multiple essay questions. Daily quizzes, which might sound bad but it's a great way to boost your grade and only uses the 20 best. Also has the option of writing a paper to replace the quiz grade

You cannot slack in any of Dr. Whitfield's classes. Do not expect this to be an easy A. If you put in the time and effort outside of class, you will be able to get an A - I pulled one off by staying on top of the material and reading. Daily quizzes and difficult tests, but they are manageable if you maintain concentration throughout the semester.

A good guy. When he's annoyed though, watch out. He'll go a little berserk. Daily quizzes. They aren't that bad but sometimes they require you to TRULY understand certain concepts in the reading. Tests cover a lot of material. STUDY if you want a B. Slightly different grading scale. I thought I had a B but came out with a C+. Put in the extra work.

You have to make sure you do the reading in this class. There are reading questions due every Tuesday (fairly easy) and quizzes every Thursday (also easy). Tests are hard but manageable with studying. It seems like a lot of work, but this class will be very rewarding if you want it to be! Dr. Whitfield's class has made me decide to minor in CHR.

Usually enthusiastic about coming into class. Fairly disorganized lesson plan. Books read pretty boring but does ask you to explore and think. Grades extremely difficult, 2 comma mistakes and best u get is a 70%. Interesting teacher but not his subject at all. Not advisable for FYS

can be confusing, and definitely means business when you annoy him. i hear he makes his greek class sings and play games.not fun in front of others. plus, if you annoy him, he'll deduct extra points off assignments. That behavior is like other Mercer professors.
