He is very nice and you can definitely get close with him if you go to office hours. Quiet voice in lecture, so sit in the front. His class consista of presentations, a grant paper, and 2 exams. For exam prep, I recommend making a table of all the relevant methods from lecture and presentations. His exam is scenario based with short responses.

He is a very chill guy and doesn't ask for much out of his class. His lectures are pretty interesting and his tests are easy if you go over the techniques shown in his slides and the weekly presentations. You are asked to present on a journal article (read the rest for other weeks if you want to), take two tests and write a 5-page essay.

He's kinda grumpy, but he's a really cool guy and you really do learn a lot in his class. The exams are based off conceptual understanding, so there's limited focus on memorization, which can be good or bad depending on what kind of student you are. There's also a term paper, and a presentation on a scientific article. 8/10 would take again

This class systematically covers all the techniques utilized in biological research pertaining to cell and molecular bio. The tests are logic based, he will give you scenarios and you are expected to know the techniques applicable in each situation along with justification. Research paper is hard if you're not in 199. Go to office hours!!

All the bio courses offered in UCI are theory-based, but this class is one of those rare gems that shows you what it's really like out there in the field. It's hard, but just go to office hours and he'll help you out with whatever questions you have. A great professor, and super nice and enthusiastic if you get to know him in person! :)

The class was certainly a challenge, but manageable because office hours were only limited in time by the number of questions I had. Dr. Blumberg exhibits an inherent enthusiasm and curiosity for science that is quite rare. He once jumped up atop his desk to find a book on a high shelf, or an old DNA sequencing gel to explain his point further :)

Keeps attendance. Student presentations 1 day a week on research papers. Notes way too long, detailed, and hard to understand. I had to take this because I'm a Dev/Cell major,no idea why its required. This is more for genetics testing & techniques. He curves the class well, so dont worry. I had no idea what was doing, got a B. Old exams posted.

Very intelligent and generous professor. Dr. Blumberg has a deep & advanced grasp of the material, yet also possesses the ability to come down to the students' level to explain the concepts. Pay attention to what he tells you inside and (especially) outside of the classroom. He has mentored many students over the years and will not steer you wrong.

Very nice person, one of the best professors on campus. Class is a little difficult, specially the first half, but you will learn a lot. Presentation and Paper should not make you drop the class since not that hard.
