Professor Dehning has a ton of in-class work and homework, but provides the answers via Blackboard! There's 2 group projects, and individual project that are challenging, but Professor Dehning helps you from start to finish with no hesitation! No presentations, but the class is doable and you learn a lot. Just stay on top of deadlines!

Comment:

Bruce gives you a lot of resources on the class website to do well in his class and you can tell he really cares about you passing. Tests are very hard but as long as you study, pay attention and learn to UNDERSTAND the concepts instead of just memorizing you'll do good. We usually do the homework in class and there's a group project.

Always check the syllabus for HW bc he doesn't always mention it in class. Go to his office hours as much as you can!! Textbook may be helpful but most of what you need from it he'll post on blackboard. Class has a lot of work and projects but he's there to help and answer questions.

I'm SO glad I took Prof Dehning for Financial Accounting! I didn't realize I'd be interested in accounting but I think it came pretty easy to me with his help. He's very good at using examples to explain concepts and does problems together in class which personally helped me learn a lot. He's very clear about the expectations for tests. Take him!

Professor Dehning is really great at teaching this course. The material can be Kring but he really wants you to do well. Would definitely take him for another course. Projects are hard so don't wait until the last minute to do them.

Comment:

Bruce is one of the best professors I have had at Chapman. I expected to hate Financial Accounting but his sense of humor and great attitude made it totally bearable. I took his course over interterm, and it was a pretty intense, but if you study hard and do all the work he assigns, you have a good chance at doing well in the class.

Great teacher. Took this class over interterm and it was definitely a challenge to say the least. However, Prof Dehning was always willing to help and ensure everyone in the class succeeded. Definitely recommend his class.

He is the best Accounting Professor at Chapman. I took his class over interterm so it moved very fast. Everything he taught was extremely clear and if you didn't get it he would explain it in a different way. He was extremely helpful and wanted to see you succeed.

Best Accounting Professor at Chapman! I took this class during Interterm, best decision especially with a course like this. Everything is explained clearly and his tests are all open notes/book. Even though the subject matter was difficult I learned a lot and he was extremely helpful with any questions I had.

He's a nice guy and a good sense of humor. His tests are hard, but he does give partial credit where deserved. The final exam was impossible and very unfair. He conducted a review 2 days prior to the final, then handed out a final with content that was not covered in the review. Would not take again.

Was very disappointed by the final exam and how he expected us to know things we never learned how to do in class. You need to work really hard on the homework and assignments so you don't fall behind. It's not a difficult class like people have said. The concepts aren't hard. But you need to know how to do the technical things in Access.

The material's not hard, he's just exceedingly anal about grading and detail. He's a pretty clear teacher, and the stuff we learned was really practical. However, the last part of the final was in a way BEYOND hard-if he's not changing it, then definitely know your Access inside and out!

Dehning's Accounting Information Systems class was awesome and much improved from prior semesters (which had many legendary horror stories). AIS ended up being very interesting and practical when I worked an internship this past summer. Plus Dehning is a great guy - really nice and extremely helpful when it comes to homework and projects.

Definitely not an easy class, but he does his best to make everything as clear as possible. Do the work-ALL of it! I highly recommend him.
