An incredible professor and even more incredible guy. I am not a journalism major but had to take reporting for my public relations major. He constantly helped me improve my ability to story tell and write strong articles. Just do what he asks and he will help you with whatever you need.

In my experience, Carl is an incredibly competent prof. He knows his shi! and tells it like it is. If he says it about journalism, then it is true. He taught me my most-important j-tip 20 years ago: just write what happened. Forget all the crap in your lead graph, just write what happened. Personally, I learned that he was a good-hearted guy.

Great guy, really nice. He gets confused easily - just something to be aware of. You MUST attend class. There are quizzes every class, and if you miss unexcused you can't make it up. He's always in his office and always willing to help.

This class is hard. It just is. Get used to it. But Carl will make you a better reporter than you thought you could be. He REALLY cares about your success, both in the class and in life. Goes out of his way to help when you need it. A GREAT professor. If you can get him, do yourself a favor: do!
