Funny lady, incompetent teacher. Gives quizzes on information she never touched. Must read the book. Homework is also extremely hard. The class got together to look up answers and never got the right one. My advice? Don't take this class from her.

Professor is a nice person but an incompetent instructor. Gives tests on material not covered in class, expects flawless lab reports from observations taken in flawed conditions. Provides false/discredited information as fact, yet tests are taken from textbooks not suggested for class. Do not take.

Prof. Mallory may be a genius, but she gives the hardest tests ever! I studied my brains out in her astronomy telecourse, did all the work, read the book, did all the self-tests, and when I took her midterm and final, the tests were still impossible! She asks really hard questions even for smart students. She doesn't prepare you enough or fairly!

my advice is simple: TAKE ASTONOMY FROM SOMEONE ELSE OR DON'T TAKE IT AT ALL. Incorrect facts/info. Vague or completely irrelavent examples. Awkward lecture style. I believe she learned public speaking from tapes she ordered off a late night infomercial or out of the back of reader's digest: not an effective communicator.

the cyllabus is unclear as to what she is looking for, this leads to extremely low grades on homework assignment because you didn't have it in "the right format." just take the normal class (not from her) and it will be much easier. trust me.

she is a very sweet lady and you can tell just how much she loves astronomy. i took the televideo course and it was hard to make sure i did the work but otherwise she was always available to help out anytimes u needed her.

Some teachers are educators, and some people teach in order to demonstrate how much they know. Mallory is is NOT an ecucator. You will come away from each class frustrated and hating astronomy. She does a miserable job of helping students learn astronomy. Buyer beware - you have been warned. Take her class at your own risk or should I say peril.

Her grading is unfair. If she likes you then you will do fine. She does not explain what she wants from your observtions and then grades you wrong. She expects you to understnad astronomy as if it is lifetime hobby. She should have stayed a scientist. I can't say it enough that she can't teach.

had her for a night class... she is a little crazy but that is part of her charm...there were the quizes but she tried as much as she could to help...you just have to ask for it...plus there was lots of extra credit...and the tests were hard. overall a good teacher
