Dr. A is probably my favorite professor that I've had in the three years I've been in school. She's a really effective teacher and is very upfront about how her class will go, plus she's super charismatic and makes class interesting. If you follow her rules and pay attention in class you'll love her!!!

Acocella is honestly a favorite teacher of mine. If you want to be babied and handed an A, she's not for you. I studied an average amount and got a 103 on one of her "impossible" exams. She's strict but she's very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. Come to class, don't use your phone, take good notes, and you will be JUST FINE, I promise!

Dr. Acocella is very passionate on what she teaches and very very knowledge on anything related physiological psych and drugs and behavior. Her tests can be slightly difficult but just make sure to go over your notes and memorize the vocab from the textbook!!!!!!! Her tests are straightforward and she is very clear on what she expects you to know.

Took online over the summer. There are 20 multiple choice quizzes after each chapter, 3 class discussions, and 15 research quizzes. Quizzes were based mainly off of her PowerPoints. Having a science background defiantly helps in this class as different areas of the brain are discussed along with many neurotransmitters. I Learned a lot in this class

so easy as a summer class. no exams. discussions are easy points, research quizzes are super easy and regular quizzes are word for word in the powerpoint. don't buy the book because I didn't use it at all. I don't feel like I deserved my A because I felt like I didn't do anything really. compared to regular sessions like fall or spring.

One of the best professors but also one of the toughest. She is so passionate about what she teaches I'd rather take her class and get a B than take it with someone else and get a A.

I took her for both PSYC 301 and PSYC 450. She's one of the best professors I've had here. She's definitely tough, but I've learned more from her class than any other class. She is very knowledgable about the neuropsychology field and can generally answer any question you have about it, or help you find the answer. She's great, highly recommend!

She really explains well the material we need to study, so it isn't really that hard to follow her and get an A in the course.

The people complaining here are acting lazy. No, she does not post powerpoints. You have to actually attend class & pay attention & take notes, just like college students did for hundreds of years before there was internet. The material is hard & 75% of your grade is exams. But she's available to talk & if you try, an A is possible. I did it.

Comment:
The exams are only from material on one chapter maybe a chapter and a half and she chooses the most difficult detailed questions there is to choose. The class is supposed to be a psychology class but I felt like I was in anatomy and physiology. Lectures are terribly long. Don't take if you don't have to. The AVERAGE grade on the tests were a C.

Acocella is the only teacher I have ever truly disliked. She has 4 test worth around 20% each and 10 quizzes worth 2% each so if you fail 2 of her extremely difficult tests then you fail the entire class. Class average on her tests is around a 70 so half of the class gets a D or lower on all her tests. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

She tells you that all the information is in her powerpoints, but adds stuff that she never covers. She also makes her tests difficult by twisting questions around from the traditional definition.

Comment:
Dr. Acocella lacks empathy. The subject matter is extremely difficult and while she definitely knows the material the majority of her class does not. There are 4 grades: 3 exams and a presentation. This is not an accurate representation of how much students have learned! The exams are extremely difficult. Avoid Dr. Acocella if possible.

Comment:
S&P only has 3 exams and 1 final presentation. Her lectures are well paced & she really goes into depth about the topic. For Bio Basis and S&P, I didn't read the textbooks and I only studied from the lecture notes and got A's. No attendance grade. However, DON'T take if you miss class a lot; she doesn't give out lecture notes so you'll be lost.

Don't miss class if you don't have to. She doesn't post her PowerPoints online and if you miss one lecture you might be lost in the material. She is very enthusiastic about the topic. Exams are multiple choice, fill-ins, and one short answer. The only other thing you get graded on are online quizzes.

Very nice woman but does not know how to teach the material well. She uses powerpoints but does not put them online so if you miss a class you miss all the notes. Also is confusing in how she teaches- shell have the powerpoint slides up but wont be teaching directly off of them

Do not take her. This is one of the hardest classes I've ever taken and she does not make it easier. She gives no guidelines for tests and expects you to write down and remember everything she says in her lectures. Do not recommend.

Extremely helpful teacher and great at knowing her students by name. Takes attendance so class is necessary and very helpful. The tests are very hard and long with fill in the blank being most difficult as spelling counts. Great teacher over all

The class is easy. The exams come DIRECTLY from her lecture. She's also good at clearly answering questions. The textbook is a must and helps w/ studying. Attendance is important because she doesn't post her notes online. Ignore the other comments here crying about not having a word bank on the tests; you're in college. You shouldn't need one.

She is very unforgiving if you show up late to class and stay on your phone. She is very clear in presenting the information however, the information is HARD. If you ask her to further explain something she will draw it out and simplify it. However, most of it is your resposnibility!
