I took him for Art in New York. Just show for the trips, talk and engage with him, and have fun. I don't think he grades too harshly for the journals. Easy and fun class if you're into art and museums. Attendance is mandatory, if you can't make it to a trip, just email him and he will set something up for you.

TAKE HIM!! HES THE BEST PROF. EVER!!! I would take every single class offered by him he is literally the professor in the world. He knows so much and I have never learned so much in a class and in life. If you want a professor that will have the most positive impact on you take him! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! He's a really sweet man. You have to put in some effort to do well. His tests can be a little tricky but tbh if you actually paid attention you'll do well. I felt like I actually learned a lot and he's very knowledgeable in the subject. Throws a bunch of puns/jokes to help you out.

He is a very annoying professor, Its very hard to keep up and he goes way into detail about every little thing. Dont bother asking questions because you will never get a direct answer. Also his tests have nothing to do with his class so there goes that, its basically impossible to do well on the midterm or final so do not take this class!

I have never had a worse professor in all of my years. Rude, and unclear. Does nothing but ridicule. This is not an introductory course by any means. The material is absurd and nothing within the lectures are clear. I cannot believe how much time and $ I wasted on this course. A majority of the class dropped or withdrew. Do NOT take this professor.

Apparently he is great in person but online, no matter how hard you try, there is so much unclear feedback. You can provide support and examples from his own lecture and still not good enough. Try being philosophical, still not enough. Ask for help, reiterates what was already said. Should've dropped. Not to mention everyone can read the feedback.

Whether you spend 1 hour on discussions or 3, be prepared to face ridiculous grading. I've worked extremely hard and STILL RECEIVE POOR GRADING. you can perfectly answer the discussion questions and mention details from the lectures which are extremely long and constantly go off-topic, and still get graded poorly. Don't take this course online.

He is the sweetest man alive. His outlook on art and even life is truly inspirational. He knows SO much and is genuinely happy to share what he knows. His jokes are like corny grandfather jokes that all have to do with art-and it's adorable. He showed the whole class how beautiful Art in NY truly is. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM but take him seriously.

Dr. Mandeles is an amazing professor! I absolutely adore him! As a business major, I heard harsh things about art history but his class was so much fun and very informative. He has an abundance of information to give and is very excited to give it to us. Please take his class! And pay attention! You won't regret it!

Dr. Mandeles is a very unique individual and I think students either appreciate this or they don't. I personally find his perspective of scenarios fascinating and enlightening. Take him for what he is. This class is truly an experience and for me it offered much self discovery. I highly recommend this class.

Online class was not fun. His lectures are WAY TOO LONG! You'll be stuck reading each lecture for hours a week. He tares you apart when commenting and grading your posts. If u don't go into extreme depths with your answers he gives you a poor grade. He takes this class was too seriously for students whose majors revolve around fashion, ease up.

Profesor Mandeles was a wealth of information. He encouraged free thinking and although I am a native New Yorker he had me looking at my city and art with new eyes. In a t ime when I find that many students see attendance as optional, we had a high attendance rate and a joyful atmosphere that I think was a result of this great professor.
