She expects you to speak like a native Spanish speaker. You will have three books to read in her class. If it was not for my love of Spanish, I would not be in her class. If she says you do not need to know certain things for a test she is lying. WRITE THEM DOWN! She is condescending, but just ignore her and you should be fine. Her T/F quizzes=trky

She was not clear on assignments and then punished you for not getting it right, she tells you the assignment as you are leaving class and it is easy to get the wrong information.

I took her. Thought she was good and then I got a wicked low grade on my test. Then the next time I studied like crazy took better notes, tried to be the best student I could. I got a wicked low grade again. When I told her I was going to withdraw she said that she thought that was best because the class (basically her teaching) is excellent!

If you want to really learn Spanish so you can actually use it to do something other than find the bathroom, order the beer take it with Charlene. I just got my MA and can tell you that the foundation in grammar that I got from her laid the basis for my eventual near-native fluency, and allowed me to conduct research in Lat America with no problem

Charlene is the best spanish teacher I have ever had. Her course demands hard work from those in it so do not take it for an easy A. If you really want to learn Spanish she is a magnificent teacher. Although her tests can be long, and she is not always concise when answering questions I still wish I could take her for every Spanish class.

I thought she was great! She is very smart and well versed, you need to be willing to step up and get the work done. If you do, you will have no problem getting a good grade. She doesn't spoon feed and that's life in the real world. I loved the class.

She goes extremely fast. In our fourth week she announced we are at the level of 2nd year high school spanish (4th week). If you have never taken spanish before please do not take her class. She is way too fast, does not help at all, incomprehensible, rushes you to get through your quizzes.

I agree with most everything others have said about this professor and more. The workload was ridiculous for only 3 credits. She is incomprehensibly inflexible. The syllabus is laughable and expectations are not clearly defined. She often asks if there are problemas and when you indeed have a question, her response is condescending.

Charlene is perhaps the most unsociable person I have ever met. However, after taking what is now my 6th class with her, I am finally beginning to enjoy her classes and I find myself having fun in them. She is a tricky professor, extremely unclear at first & reluctant to speak in spanish with her students. Give her a chance she might grow on you.

The only thing more unclear than the tests were her expectations. If we asked questions she would become upset. The entire final was trick questions...and typos. Unfortunately, she is the head of the Spanish department and so teaches all of the upper level classes. If you are not a major (and therefore have a choice) do not take her classes.

After having her class I began searching for new colleges to attend. Trying means nothing to her. And she won't give any help even when you see her at her office hours. She only wants to teach native speakers, or students with hispanic backgrounds. Work load isn't bad, rather an easy course, but shes not easy. Look into UNH therespa.dpt.isgreat

If I didn't have such a passion for Spanish, I would not be caught dead in her class. If she doesn't like you, you're screwed. She has favorites & loves to nit pick. Make *sure* you are prepared for class; she can sniff out those who aren't & make you more embarrassed than you have ever been.Never forget your book.Kiss @$$ like you never have before

Professor Suscavage knows her stuff and if you have a previous background in spanish you will do fine, however you need to do the work and pay attention. She is not very clear, goes fast, and does not do well with students not keeping up. The labs were terrible, so you really have to pay attention. don't slack off, go to class and do the reading

She is condescending and rude. Ask a question and she treats you like you're stupid. She asks "was everything clear?" and if you say no she laughs and walks away. If you haven't had spanish before she will belittle you for your lack of knowledge. And if you are bold enough to say something about it she ignores you. Don't take a class with her.
