Professor Hood is definitely a hard teacher to have, but not impossible to complete his class. He will definitely make you work for your grade but he does make it clear at the beginning what is expected from you. Not a class for anyone looking for an easy grade. He is available to help anyone who wants his help also provides a TA.

Professor Hood is one of the worst professors I've ever had at AVC. He means well and wants to help you become a better writer, but ends up just crushing your confidence in the process. There's three essays, and he criticizes everyone's essays in front of the class when they're due. Often yelled at us when he got frustrated. Don't take him.

Not clear on what he wanted you to write your paper on and announced that he gave everyone in the class a D and said that we "wrote for an audience of idiots." He never gave us proper feed back on our papers and after 2 essays with the entire class with a letter D, I withdrew and will NEVER recommend him to anyone.

This professor will ruin your GPA. Hardworking A grade students should expect a C in his class. He has unclear / erratic grading guidelines. Expects you to follows his pitiful writing standards which mirror those found in Clickbait articles (ex: tells you to put your thesis at the end of papers for a surprise element). Avoid him at all costs.

Hard class. Three boring essays including one that is timed (you dont get to know the essay question). He is tough and unless you are a professional writer he will pick you apart and lower your gpa. Too hard on students for a 101 class. Dont recommend unless youre a flawless perfect writer. I regret taking this class.

Anytime a teacher prides themselves on being the toughest English teacher at AVC, run far away. Lets get this straight, he might be the toughest, but certainly not the best. Hes hard to please and is unnecessarily overly critical. To anyone considering taking his class, please reconsider. The free textbook is not worth this mans stress.

Dont take this class of you are planning to cut corners. At first I did not like professor hood, but towards the end my feelings changed a bit. I realized that my writing had improved and I learned new things from him. I took him during summer session and it was hard. It takes work and drive and if you are not up for that do not take him.

Honestly only take his class if youre familiar with writing research papers and know how to be able to defend them with extensive citations catering to his opinion. I thought he was pretty easy but if your coming straight from English 101 or AP your probably should find another professor because its not a skill learned in this class.

No revision papersNo professional feedbacks on papers. Rudest Professor!!!!!!

Professor Charles is excellent. Literally. If you're sensitive, don't take him. Actually, do, he might help toughen you up. If you're trying to pass by half-butting things, he's not the guy. He definitely makes you strive and go up a tier in your ability to read and write.

Paper topics seemed to be more opinionated, and backed up by evidence. What I came to find is that if he didnt like your opinion, then it reflected in your grade. If its an opinionated paper, and you have a lot of evidence to support it, then I dont see how you can receive a harsh grade. Also, feedback received was unprofessional.

I took him for English 101 during the summer session, and he's a bit much he's rude, and full of himself. He corrected me on every paper and when I did everything right on the last paper and the final he gave me an 80, and didn't even tell me why. My grades consisted of 70,70,75,80 and 85 for the final. Passing the class with a B is even hard.

Hes a bit too into himself, He has no filter at times. Besides that he actually is a good teacher, he gives you feedback on how your writing can be better, he uploads powerpoints online good if you miss a day. there is some groupwork in class, 3 papers are ur final&determine if you pass or not. Gives you a syllabus at the beginning of the semester.

If you want to pass the class with an easy A then this is probably not the class for you. Hood comes off a bit egotistical but is a really good teacher if you want to improve your writing skills. There is no room (at all) for procrastination. Homework should be done to do well on papers. Overall, it was a bit tough but I'm glad I took his class.

He is literally the most judgmental professor ever. If actually took the time to teach maybe hed see the results he wants. How does he expect us to know exactly what he wants if he give NO detailed feedback? I highly suggest you do not take him. Everything about his teaching puzzles me. I regret taking him. Hes very disrespectful too.

I took Professor Hood the summer before beginning my senior year in High School. To this day he is one of the best writing teachers I have ever had. He holds high expectations and really breaks down any flaws you might have in ur essays. If youre a hard worker or, at least, a decent writer, you will pass--it simply boils down to taking his advice
