His class was great. Class discussions were engaging. Papers took time, but you got a lot out of them. I saw absolutely no favoritism or discrimination in the least. Just come with a good attitude and a willingness to participate and you will do well.

There is no textbook, about 5 novels are required. Your grade consist of 3 papers, a mid-term and final. I personally liked the mid-term/final assignment. You are required to link different topic together. This professor has a very confusing grading scale. I feel it is inconsistent.

Definitely knows what he's talking about (or at least has evidence to back up strong opinions) when it comes to Africana Studies, political, and social issues. Class discussions are very engaging and he's not afraid to shy from hot topics and debate. Very few assignments. Can be very disorganized, and his grading system is unclear.

Charles Peterson is a very intelligent man and an excellent teacher. For those of you that said that his teaching style is unclear, I would suggest that you do the reading. He doesn't play around. As for him favoring minority students, I didn't notice any of that. He treats students fairly.

Very intelligent man, but doesn't require much from students. Not sure if grading was absolutely fair. If you want to think, his class will give you a chance to do that.

excellent professor, but what you get out of his class will be equal to what you put in; he expects you to be a college student and take respopnsibility for your education. If you want to gain a new perspective on many issues, definately take his class.
