if you're thinking of taking this to cover your creative experience flag, don't. Especially if you're looking for an easy going class, easy A. This is NOT it. If you're not a theater major, this class will bore you to death. Just do yourself a favor, and don't

The absolute worst teacher I've ever had. Assigns endless projects, which causes due dates to stack. He is entirely unintelligible about half of the material he is "teaching," if you can even use that word. Asking him a question will get you an answer to an entirely different question and most likely leave you more confused. Avoid his classes.

This professor was overall just frustrating for a first year seminar class. He acts as if everyone is a theatre major and needs to know every single minute theatric detail and is unreasonable in general. He expects a lot from assignments that he does not clearly explain to the students. Just aggravating.

He was such a nice guy, but his instructions on assignments are so vague, so you end up getting a c/d on an assignment.

Everyone gives Chuck a lot of problems because he's on the older side and is slightly forgetful. However, he is an amazing professor and is super knowledgable on theater. He genuinely cares about his students, providing you are respectful to him and he wants you to do well, learn and have fun.

Chuck is such a sweet guy, but he does not know how to teach. We literally spent half the semester talking about different types of wood. His class is a confusing and boring lecture and everyone is on their phones the entire time. He is so nice but I hated this class.

Nicest teacher ever. Super helpful. Let's you correct the homework you do incorrectly for a better grade. He really wants everyone to have an A in his class. It's just that most actors don't care about the stagecraft tech stuff and just want to do acting. I'm in love with doing both. Attendance isn't mandatory per se but you get EC for it and stuff

I know chuck has a bad rap but if you go to his office hours he will love you. Just listen in class don't ask questions, even though hes a little confusing, just do the work and its not that bad.It is a lot of work but he will help you a ton if you see him and ask questions outside of class.

Stagecraft is the low point of every theater major's week unless you have Chuck Erven. The first two weeks of his class I almost had an accident in my pants but later realized that he is super funny, barely understandable, goes off on random tangents, is super talented and passionate at what he does, and LOVES it when you go into his office hours.

Chuck is a very north western, old school style professor. Most of his classes are lecture style and you must take notes and review your text book. Chuck is very meticulous about detail on home work and tests. But if you complete all the work, pay attention and get on his good side, you can get a good grade.

Chuck is very talented and I feel priveledged to have learned from him. He is not very good at explaining things but the concepts in theater 120 are not very difficult. You have to study a lot for his tests and they are pretty hard but he tells you exactly whats on them. You have to write about five very short papers. write what he wants to read!

Chuck... oh man. He's a really nice old guy who absolutely loves what he teaches. Granted, most of the actors in the class find it extremely boring, and the tests are difficult and all memorization. Still, he's brilliant at what he does, and he's a great resource for technical problems. Tons of extra credit available.

Oh chuckles. I had a hell of a time in his class. Lots of memorization, and very disorganized lectures. Don't take this class in the morning or you'll absorb no information, as Chuck doesn't make things stimulating enough to focus much attention on. He makes things more complicated than they need to be. Anyhow, nice guy, a just a little senile.

he's a really funny guy but the class is very tedious. there is a lot of just straight memorization and it's usually on things that you don't really care about. there are lots of opportunities for extra credit and if you pay attention he'll love you.

He assumes that everyone wants to know about stagecraft because he cares so much for it. A few of us do, but it was torture even for us. I feel bad for him too. He tries, but just because you work in a certian field, doesn't make you a good teacher.

Chuck is just a really nice guy. He loves the material, however, the students don't, at all. It is impossible to memorize all the materail, don't bother. It is useless. The class sucks but I still feel bad for the guy!

This is the worst class in the world. The course description in the book is not at all what is actually taught. Chuck has good intentions but tries to make actors take tests about power tools and fabrics which is extremely uninteresting.Do not take this!

Not that bad of a teacher, the material just sucks for a lot of the students cuz a bunch of students just aren't interested in the material. Tons of XC on the tests (how insane... makes it very possible to get A's).
