Comment:
Professor Yu is monotonous and sometimes lectures extremely fast during important topics. The MasteringPhysics homework is much harder than the quizzes and the final, and the final is definitely doable with some studying. Overall one should rely more on the TAs and friends to study with and do well.

The class is pretty easy but she's not very good at explaining, that's what makes it hard, especially if you've never taken physics before. No midterms, only a final with two parts and she tells you exactly what's on it. If you pass part a with 70% you automatically get a C overall grade. Her MasteringPhysics is way harder than the weekly quizzes.

The prof herself isn't very good at teaching. However, the class as a whole was fairly straightforward. Her lectures on mondays are very lengthy and I didn't find helpful. The group worksheets on wednesday helped more by showing specific problems and hinting to fridays quizzes. The class was useful to learn basic physics overall.

Prof. Yu is a bad lecturer who is slow, lethargic, and will dull you to sleep in lecture. The people who will give you the most help will be the TA's and Upperclassmen. They can explain the concepts better. The homework and quizzes at times can be extremely challenging and not appropriate for the level that this class is at

Prof Yu was pretty bad. She tries really hard to help us understand but she isnt a good teacher. towards the end she was better but the TAs & tutors are who REALLY help you. if you are struggling ASK THEM THEY ARE A HUGE HELP. The quizzes are pretty hard, but the final was way easier than hmwk and quizzes. Final was like the physics placement test.

She makes it seem like she has no teaching experience because all she does is read off of her slides on the screen. She does not explain anything at all so youre basically better off learning the material yourself. If you do learn anything other than through yourself, its through the TAs. Do your best to avoid taking this class with her.

She cannot teach, she literally just reads off of lecture notes. Class is so boring, yet mandatory. Goodluck fam, youll need it.

She is absolutely the worst Physics professor I have ever come across. She does not know how to teach, very unorganized. She makes attendance mandatory but the whole class is better off not paying attention. Midterm is hard. Final is unbelievable. Don't waste your time studying because anything you study wont be on exam.

practically reads off of the online notes during lecture, weekly group quizzes are often tough, MT was mostly plug n chug using the formulas although not all of them are on the cheat sheet(high mean), bad finals that has a good portion on random concept definition and significance of discoveries, GO TO LECTURE& UNDERSTAND ALL of hw for finals

AVOID THIS PROFESSOR at all costs. She just read off her lecture notes and they are all from the textbook. The midterm are fair but the final will kill you. Discussion doesn't help much. She would tell you to do the mastering physics homework but the tests are all conceptual questions. Worst physics professor ever.

The standard deviation on the two tests was 17 and 19. It made it so a tiny portion of students could receive an A. The lectures explain the concepts well but you have to learn the content for the tests on your own.

Probably the worst first experience of Physics I could have imagined. Class and criteria is simple and easy but if you can choose another professor then do it! Went to her office hours for homework help and she didn't even know how to do it. Doesn't care about being helpful, lectures are mandatory because participation grade is from iclickers.

Class structure was simple. Lecture, tutorial(practice problems), and exam every single Friday. TA'S were helpful, even during quizzes, and you will need a non graphing calculator for sure. Tough course, but if you commit you'll pass.

Comment:
This class require too much self study. Lectures are long and boring (1 hour 40 minutes because she combines Tutorial and Lecture), homework from the website are absurdly difficult and irrelevant sometimes, and powerpoints do not help. Quizzes and tutorials are hard, but the TAs help. Quizzes require you to keep doing the problem until it's right.

Under the instruction of prof. Yu, this course requires a lot more self effort than paying attention to the lectures. She essentially reads off of the powerpoints, so lectures are only worth going to for clicker questions. Some assignments are hard enough to require the tutoring center.

She often mumbles when finishing her explanations. Probably to mask the fact that she doesn't know the answer. Getting an A is possible she just isn't very interesting.

Hard final (must have STRONG understanding of concepts or you won't do well); straightforward midterm (a lot of calculations); hard HW; pick-your-group quizzes (2 questions; a preview of 1 problem is given the day before: always do them beforehand; avoid putting off at all costs-the 2nd problem = really long, usually took up whole discussion time)
