Comment:
It is shame to even have such a professor in our university. The final exam was stupid, asking to label the graphs. The grade is really meaningless in this class, so retake this class with a different professor if possible in future.

Three in class exams, to pass memorize everything given to you (besides lecture slides), find old tests and use TA notes. Lectures are the teacher talking over you and doesn't really care about the students. If you have a great memory you should do fine

What an awful experience. It's crazy how little he cares. He finished the material half way thru the semester. Theres 3 in class tests to which he assigns a practice test which is almost identical to the exam. There's a lot of material which is very detailed that u need to memorize and write out in essay form. To top it off the grading is harsh

No more take home tests. All in class exams. They are not terrible as long as you outline the textbook ahead of time. Go to class so you know what to study. You don't even need to pay attention the entire time.

I didn't mind his class. It was first thing in the morning and very low stress. Not a lot of intense note taking, just jot down what you find insteresting, the rest is in the text book. The take home exams will teach you a lot, but start them as soon as they're assigned, there's TONS of information. Grading varies based on which TAs you get.

Exams were take home (including a take home final), and we were always given a full week to complete each exam. Overall, this is a VERY EASY class. Since the exams only covered material from the book, the only skill that was needed for this class, was knowing how to search through the index. Lectures were interesting, but hardly anyone attended.

All of the exams for ESG 332 were take home - who can complain about that? The take home exams allowed me to study more for my other classes, while putting less effort in 332. Honestly, I don't believe that Prof. Clayton is boring. Frankly, I don't know if it's even possible to teach material science in an exciting way.

This guy makes little sense and is boring as hell. Normally tangents are ok with me, but this guy's are less entertaining than face center cubic structure. I took this fall 06 and he was still using an overhead projector w/ unorganized random slides. The only cool thing was that he used a miniature sword/letter opener as a pointer on the overhead.

Exams were take home except for the final, but the TA's graded them hard as hell. Impossible to stay awake in class and going to class will NOT help your grade whatsoever. He just babbles on and on. He really doesn't give a crap about his students which is why the TA's do all the work for his work for him. Course material is pretty boring too.

never went to his class. He is so boring and talks alot about Britain. He uses the book entirely for midterms and final. Not a hard class if you can memorize well directly from the book

2 midterms and 1 final, working your ass off for each of them doesn't pay off. The only thing you remember when the semester is over is his son, his car, and your bad grade. Doesn't care and doesn't do his job. The worst professor.

His teaching style reminds me of HIS 104. Be sure to do every homework problem and seek help from your TA. He expects the students to ask questions. However, he usually covers more materials than I read the night before, and I often feel confused during the second halves of the lectures.

Clive Clayton is the by far the worst professor I have ever had. He doesnt care at ALL about the students. He doesnt even want to be in class to teach you. Be prepared to take a nap in his class because its almost impossible to stay awake. Dont worry you're not missing anything. ITs a shame that his class is important to graduate. Oh and if you need to complain to someone dont even bother because he is the director of the department. Have fun =)

Prepare to teach yourself this material. Which sucks because it is the foundation for any ESG major. He tends to talk alot about his boat, his car and his son.

This is one of the worst professors alive. I dont really have any words for him. He runs on his ego trips every single class. Does not give a f+++ about his students. Interesting why he gives out the questions to the exams out, yet the averages are in the 50s or 40s. Stuck up, and very careless.
