I took Mr. Sockwell for Chem 112 online and I can say that it was definitely the most pleasant experience I have ever had with chemistry. Homework was straightforward along with tests, and you even get a dropped test grade. Always responded in an appropriate time and manner when I sent him questions as well.

Replaces ur lowest test grade w/ next lowest test grade which is great! Class weight- 80% Lecture 20% Lab. You can miss days and still do well (not lab days tho) because he provides you with online videos of all his classes & copies of the practice worksheets W/ answers (doesn't grade these). Laid back, no book needed he puts PP slides online 2!

Thought it was going 2 be hard but no. No hw, only grades-lab & lecture tests. Labs R challenging but u can wrk together & look @ examples on your phone bcuz he leaves during. Tests easy, he uses the questions given 2 him so search the ?s on his practice test (W4W) u'll find exact test ?s on quizlet & other study sites. Multiple choice & True/False

Honestly the hardest class I have taken so far in college is CHM 112. I had to drop the class because I made straight 50s on the first 3 years. Rockwell expects you to be on the same level as him with your chemistry knowledge and you have to do a lot of extra studying and work outside of class just to learn on your own.

Dr. Sockwell is a super nice guy, but I wouldn't recommend him as a teacher. He leaves the room a lot during lab and his instructions can be confusing. He does give a study guide but it's not like the test so make sure you look over the book and PowerPoint!

Dr. Sockwell is fantastic. As a transient student from a four year engineering university, I came in expecting a boring, mind-numbingly easy class; however, he thoroughly made the information interesting! Additionally, his teaching style is excellent for the material presented. Very entertaining and is a true chemist!

If you want to do well in his class, it will require a lot of self-studying. He may not go over everything you need to know so read and study the chapters! He is a nice person though and he will help if you have specific questions.

Dr. Sockwell is a cool guy, but a terrible teacher. I think he is optimistic in that everyone is on his level when it comes to chemistry. Your textbook will be your best friend. If you're not a great independent studier, I'm not sure what to tell you other than youtube.

I took him because of the reviews, dont take him. I love him as a person, but he is not a good teacher. He expects you to know lot already. We asked if we could use our study guide on the final he replied, "I don't know why you want to use it because it won't help you at all." He was right, every test he has is nothing like the study guide.

Ok, Mr Sockwell is a cool and funny guy, but contrary to other views ive seen, his class is very hard, i was smart enough to get a WP, but 2/3 of my friends that i went to high school with failed, the other, made a C, the highest grade on his final was a 54, unless you plan to study and teach yourself chemistry, think about taking this class

dr sockwell is a very good teacher. chemistry is definitely a hard course but he makes it as easy as he can and it is very possible to make an a or b in his class if you just work at it.

Very easy teacher. Not as good of a teacher as Choron, but Sockwell's tests are much easier. Does he still walk out of the room during multiple choice tests?

He's a fairly decent instructor, but he moves quickly and expects you to get a lot of it on your own. His tests are mostly multiple choice and not too hard. Definitely easier than some other chemistry instructors at NWSCC.
