Comment:

Stokes is SUCH a character. He cares about his students and whether they get anything out of his class. Never had a more passionate Spanish professor, he's so good and makes you want to learn Spanish and actually show up to class! Take him if you can, he's really the best.

im a 4.0 student and i had to work my butt off to scrape by an a. theres a ton of homework but you can do it as many times as you want which is nice. i wish there had been more plain explanation of Spanish concepts in English. but hes nice and does his best to make class interesting and engaging, and is a fair grader

You're going to need to go to class to pass this one, and expect to participate. Unless you fluently speak Spanish already (in which case you should take another foreign language and stop wasting your time) you will need to show up and pay attention. The text is mandatory for the homework assignments, but useless otherwise

Craig gives an excessive amount of homework due on the same day, always gives long assignments during the labs ( he thinks is helpful, while it is not), and during the actual class he lectures the whole time in Spanish . Conversation with classmates is not utilized enough and group work is rare. There is no extra credit, retakes, or grade curves.

If I had a choice between the USSR during Stalin's regime and this class, I will choose the Gulag, any time. This man speaks in riddles constantly. Spanish gives him an affection erection and it shows. Do not take this class. He also looks like Bernie from The Incredibles.

He is very enthusiastic and energetic! The homework is astronomical and time consuming if you do not speak fluent spanish. He will help, if he sees you are putting in effort, but not getting the results that you need. He does seem condescending at times, which I believe is due to language coming so easily to him opposed to those where it doesn't.

Comment:

"Profesor Estokes" is the teacher you want when taking any Spanish class at DCC. He is passionate about the subject, clearly explains the material and utilizes not only the text required, but outside sources to enhance learning. I was grateful he gave endless tries on the homework too. Attend, participate, do the work and you will excel.

Very enthusiastic about his classes and what he teaches. His grading criteria is fair and clear. You have to be dumb if you don't do well in this class. His online assignments are so easy to get good grades on. Show up to class, participate, and hand in all work on time and you'll easy get an A.

Professor Stokes is an incredible teacher, he truly cares about the subject he is teaching, & about his students. He expects his students to do the homework assigned. Participation is big! I had him 3 semesters, he can be a tough grader, but he's FAIR, put in the work and it'll pay off. He is funny, energetic & will help if you need

I hate that emphasizes participation. Yes, i get it. Spanish communicatuon. But he geades that too harshly. The first week of school, i was quiet because i was too nervous to speak so much, although I DID speak. The azz took 5 points off my paricipation grade for each class time cause it wasnt "enough" speaking. Just participate -_-"

Comment:

One of my favorite teachers at DCC. He is so energetic and really gets everyone involved. He is very animated and keeps everyone's attention. You will not fall asleep in this class. He really knows his spanish and will really try his best to answer everyone's questions. He has an inspiration to me to continue on with Spanish. :)

He's a pretty good Spanish professor. He is very lively and enthusiastic and gets everyone involved in class. However, he moves very quickly. You'll have to do a lot of work outside of the class to keep up. He teaches entirely in Spanish and doesn't explain anything in English. He goes through material very quickly.

Excellent teacher. He knows what he's doing, his class is never dull, and you'll leave his class understanding, not just memorizing. My only complaint is that he moves very quickly, so you have to really keep up. Other than that, I regret not having him for my first two semesters of Spanish.

Prof. Stokes is the best professor I've ever had. I had taken Spanish in high school but I had forgotten a lot prior to his class. After taking his course. I can understand and speak Spanish much better after his class. Estoques is very energetic,fun and you can tell he really loves the language. He is a lovely person and class with him is a treat!

He's my favorite professor. He's a fluent Spanish speaker, so if you're serious about learning the language, you're in luck. He has a great personality and keeps class interesting. All of the assignments are online and you can resubmit them if you don't get the grade you want the first time. He's very fair. I'd highly recommend him.

Professor Stokes is by far and beyond the best Professor I've had at DCC or ever for that matter. Because of Him I am considering studying abroad in Spain next year.He has taught me to really understand spoken and written spanish and i'll be forever grateful to him. He is a fun, energetic,kind hearted wonderful man. Take him, you'll never regret it

Great Professor! By far my favorite Prof. at DCC. He is fun and easy to understand, I learned to understand spoken spanish much better. I placed into SPA 102 and his review brought me up to speed very fast and thoroughly. I had him for 102 and 201, and I really wish I could have had him for 202 as well. I HIGHLY recommend Professor Stokes!
