Dr. Kelso is one of my favorite professors at LSU thus far! Not only does he care about every student, but he is willing to work with you and help you every step of the way! If you show up and put effort in to the class, it will pay off! If you get the chance, take Kelso! He is one of the most respected professors in RNR!

Professor Kelso is awesome! He is super knowledgeable about his subject area and tells fun stories to help you understand the material. Attendance is taken randomly but I never missed a class because his lectures were so interesting. Taxonomy quizzes every week but they are super easy if you study. Exams aren't bad and extra credit paper is offered

Very groovy dude with very interesting lectures!!! Sometimes the multiple choice tests were kind of ridiculous- little details that didn't seem very important in class often appeared in questions- but still I really enjoyed this class!!!

I actually looked forward to this class, I learned a lot of stuff. You have a quiz weekly on animals, fish, or trees. They can be terrible if you dont study or super easy if you put in an hour or two. Plus it's cool to learn about those things. I really enjoyed the class and the lectures were fun and interesting. Kelso is an awesome professor.

All the test material is on what he presents in class- no textbook. Although his power points are online, he gives extra information in class, and that's usually what's on the tests. He also takes attendance, so even more reason to come to class. The material is really interesting, if you care about our planet. Extra credit paper helps too!

Tough class, usually interesting. He knows what he's talking about, but tests are hard. There is almost always a 10+ point curve on them, though. Quizzes on Mondays are easy if you prepare. Tests are hard pretty much no matter what. I expect a high c/ low b in his class. He also randomly takes attendance for a grade and offers an extra credit paper

Randomly takes attendance. Great professor with a real interest in the material. Needed to know the material forwards and backwards to do well on the tests. M/C and some true false but for M/C all the options sound the same with a lot of scientific terms. Not enough to understand the information you must be able to recite it word for word almost

He's very nice, but makes things harder than they should be. This class was my worst grade this semester and he doesn't help much.

I have taken him before and he's a pretty good professor. This class was new this semester and surprisingly hard. There are only quizzes and no final, but the material is strictly scientific order, family, genus, & species names of living things. quizzes are in "who am I?" format and SPELLING COUNTS. Posts all power points online, but hard material

He is a very nice guy but the tests were difficult and graded strictly due to then being online tests.

Kelso is the best. He can be snarky but over all he is very funny and dry humored. He keeps the class involved. The tests are tough, BUT if you are attentive, GO to class and study with a group, the class can be an easy A. I had friends that didn't go to class or care that failed. Its all on the student if they do well. Kelso gives you everything.

Great professor. He's hilarious which keeps class interesting. I wouldn't suggest skipping. I did a few times but I had friends in the class to get my notes from. His tests are exactly like his lectures. Make sure you read the material he puts on Moodle, too. He pulls a lot of test questions from that. Pay attention to the examples he gives.

Probably the smartest guy at LSU, maybe even in this state. Make sure to pay attention to stuff he says in class not on the powerpoints including trends on graphsfigures and the extra reading material posted on moodle.

I loved Doctor Kelso, he is by far one of my favorite teachers and gets you really interested in the topics covered. Attending class is a must as he writes the bare minimum on his powerpoint slides (which he posts on moodle) and builds off of them into what he really wants you to know, along with examples that he'll ask you about on the tests.

Kelso was my favorite professor. Even if you are not into the material, he'll get you interested. He makes study guides for tests, but make sure you listen in lecture because not everything he says is in the powerpoints (examplesadditional explanations). Also, he's pretty hilarious sometimes so that's coolio

Kelso really knows what he's talking about and is very helpful. Tests can be difficult, but he curves at least 10 points. The only bad thing is that there are no other points available besides a rather difficult bonus assignment. Another plus is that the final was not cumulative.

Informative class with very relevant and applicable topics. Kelso is very excited about his profession and his subject material and projects energy into his class. He teaches with humor and elaborates well on topics in the slideshow. He posts the slides on Moodle but tests on information that he speaks in class. Pay attention to his examples.
