Cyrus is a really good professor. He really wants you to learn and do well. Quizzes are based off lecture and homework. Labs build upon each other. If you don't get a grade for a lab, you fail. Can't pass the class without passing the lab and vice versa.

Cyrus is a very friendly and good-humored guy and a great lecturer. He makes the subject interesting and he's very helpful to those who ask questions. For a lower division intro class, there was a lot more work than expected especially compared to other professors who teach the course, but the material assigned helps you learn a lot.

Cyrus was probably the best professor I've had here at UCSC so far. He is very enthusiastic about the subject and had many stories to add to his lectures. As long as you go to class and take good physical/mental notes you should be able to pass his exams. He is very helpful in office hours and his hw and sections benefit the class a lot.

Class was a bit of a joke, stopped going after the first 2 weeks. Thankfully Cyrus was chill enough to post his PowerPoint notes online, and reviewing those before the exams was enough to get a passing grade. Some of the projects are fun, most are tedious but very do-able.

This class and teacher are boring. I rarely went to the lectures, and I fell asleep when I did go. Some of the homework assignments are interesting. Others are just tedious. His lectures are lame and irrelevant. The book is worse. When explaining something in lecture, he repeats it about three different ways. Move on!!

I have to say, Winter 06 Cyrus taught the best class I have taken so far at UCSC. Very cool guy, very focused and funny, definately looking forward to taking another class with him should that chance arise. Definately take his CMPE 12 class, you will definately learn the material.

His lectures were totally irrelevant to the assignments. His TAs weren't helpful AT ALL and his assignments are tedious. EXTREMELY BORING CLASS! Don't take for GE unless you have a dif. professor.

Very few teachers are of his caliber. Awesome guy, cool teacher, difficult grader. He is very engaging and if you put an unhappy face it's becuase you wanted to coast through an engineering degree and were too lazy to go to office hours for this very helpful professor.

Cyrus is not a prof, first off. He's really good. I was the ce 100 MSI tutor for fall 2005 and he is really freagin challenging...but compared to others...he's actually not too bad because he teaches you, gives you good homework and actually less challenging tests than some. He's not hot btw. I think he is still studying for his PHD.

Awesome teacher! Totally makes you feel like you're buddies, and always willing to help out. He intentionally graded hard, and expected people to come beg for points back. =( Overall really good class... don't take with cs101 and ce100 at the same time.
