This class is based off of 2 tests and one 5 page paper. She can be a little all over the place while writing on the white board, but I highly recommend attending lectures. Videos and readings are a huge part of class. You have to read your text book and optional book to do good on the tests. Hybrid online and in class setting.

You can see that she passionate towards the subject of Juvenile Justice. Yet I feel that when she teaches, she scrambles all around. 2 Exams; read one of the two books she ask for since it will be on the exam; multiple choice and essay Q & some few assignments. She's a decent professor. Doable, can get an A if you study well enough

3 papers that are significant part of your grade. Papers are easy and she grades them fairly, just somewhat tedious. Test are easy so long as you study the lecture notes and pay attention in class. First part of class if lecture and second part is group work. Also cancels class a fair amount to give time students time to work on papers. Take her!

Professor Nurge is a very helpful and kind professor. The first half of class is her lecturing, and the second half is group work. The material is very easy to understand, and the worksheets she provides are the answers/concepts found in her test, which are easy. There are two papers, and only the first one is tedious, but not hard. Take her!

A LOT of reading required! she also adds stuff not on syllabus. the tests are not that hard if you did readings, attended lecture and know the stuff a little. she is a bit disorganized & we never finish what we are suppose to, but were expected to know it for final. lots of videos and handouts!

This class was very difficult. She would give assignments and not fully explain them until after they are turned in and then we find out we did them wrong...if you are going to have her, make sure you go to her office hours all the time to make sure you're on the right track.

Dr. Nurge's Juvenile Justice class is so HARD, lots of reading/books, tricky test since its from the books, I dont like the way she structures her class. there arent that many good CJ classes to choose from for spring 09, so choosing Nurge over sutton will have to do.still a challenge nonetheless.just get that C(class avg)and graduate from state!

Dr. Nurge is very professional, but her class is hard. You have to attend class because in the test she asks questions based on her opinion about the subject. Covers a lot of chapters and you have to read two books and she will have two hard essay questions based on the books. Test questions very confusing, two essay questions. Do the extra credit

Classes go the full time and are usually split between lecture, videos, and group work/discussion. Tests can be hard because her review sheets don't cover whats on the test. Sometimes it's hard to understand what she is talking about and when she uses the white board. She looks like John Madden trying to describe a football play on monday night.

Interesting CJA subject but the professor did a poor job teaching it during the Fall’s 07 semester. Grade based on 1 Midterm (75 Questions) â€" 1 (Long Assignment 6-8 Pages) â€" 1 VERY difficult Final (75 Questions + 2 ESSAYS). READING the book is CRUCIAL cause in class lecture was not HELPFUL. My personal rating for this class = 5/10.

Did not enjoy class all that much. The material could have been made more interesting by discussing current events (which there were plenty of involving juveniles during this semester). There are plenty of videos that are shown and most are pretty good. Definitely study for the mid-term and final!

Dr. Nurge is GREAT! Extremely knowledgeable about juvenile justice, as well as gangs. She knows her stuff and is a consultant for the City of San Diego Gang Commission. Take her 321 & 540 class! She makes 540 fun and enjoyable despite the boring subject.

She made this class as interesting as is humanly possible...nobody wants to take this class but it's not bad at all. She's clear and definately cares about students and wants us to do well. She's also really cute which makes it easier to take a long class with her.

Not the most interesting of classes. Consists of a midterm, a final and two papers. Attending class and getting all the notes is extremely helpful! Would definitely recommend Prof. Nurge for this course requirement-she makes the class not as boring as it sounds.
