I had Professor Curran during Fall 2007 for Modern Middle East. It was the last semester which he taught before retiring. He knew so much about History, and his notes were always allll over the board. King's will not be the same without him; he was a titan in the History Profession.

If you wanna pass, take, but if you want an A, dont.Impossible to follow his unorganized historical rants. Though knowledgable, he doesn't know how to administer tests. Sifting through over 30 pages of nonsensical notes is tedious for answering only 5 questions. 1 wrong = 80. Misguides you about test contents. Doesn't explain grade you get on paper

Had the tendency to talk in pure monotone. Really knew his content and material, but taught it in a confusing manner. His notes would zig-zag across the board, and seemed to have no logical order to them. Would occasionally get off on tangents. 75 minutes felt like an eternity...

Global-easy teacher, hard to fail- One major paper 3500 words- have to read a book for the final 410 pages- Lectures form the min he walks in to the end- hands a folder out fist day of everything(kinda scary)

Curran is a great guy. I took him for both Am Civ and Global. I highly reccomend him...he keeps the lecture interesting by adding an "itself, there" after every sentence he says. Tests are all 10 ?'s answer 5 and get a 100- plus only one paper.

Dr. Curran is the most intelligent man I have ever encountered. He lectures in great detail for hours from the top of his head. He is the only teacher I have had at King's that can keep me awake for a full class period because he is so interesting.

Awesome teacher. Literally impossible to fail his classes. You take few tests. He gives you 10 questions and you choose 5 to answer. If you fail, you can retake the test as many times as you want until you pass. Will help you after class whenever needed. Take all the notes he puts on the board. Extremely brilliant mind. Knowledgable in many facets of American and international politics and government. Some difficulty taking notes, however, read the assigned material and you will be fine. You will learn a great deal from this Gentleman. He should run for office.

a walking encyclopedia. very easy class. will hand out a paper before each test with the exact pages you need to study from the book. viritually impossible to fail this class. will start teaching the second he opens the door, and will not stop until time is up. tests are EASY! you can retake the test as many times until you pass!!! CANNOT FAIL!!!

Hard to take notes, just try and copy everything on the board. Read over your notes and the handouts for the tests and you'll be fine. His tests arent bad, just answer 5 of 10. His final is rough though. The questions from the book you have to read are kinda specific. I actually read the dumb thing and messed up the questions....

If you're interested in the topic then Dr. Curran will be interesting. He's a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and can be pretty funny, like the time he mentioned anal sex as a method of contraception for Bedouin Arabs since they didn't have condoms.

EXXTREMELYYYYYYYY BORING. Very knowledgable but does not know how to present it to class. Terrible lectures that you can't even take notes. He gives tests that have abstact unanswerable answer unless your a historian. If you want to be bored out of you mind then take him.

Dr Curran is extremely knowledgable. He seems unapproachable but is actually a very nice man. His tests are kind of hard and it's hard to take notes, but if you like history, you will love him. I didn't like history until I took his class.
