Overall hes an okay professor. He lectures the whole time and its boring but he gives you hand outs for each lecture. Before each test he gives you a take home practice exam which helps a lot. I would just study my outlines and the practice exam before each test. The TAs are great and are easy graders too.

Nice person, informative lectures that didn't leave much to be desired. He provided us with material in a clear fashion that permitted adequate comprehension and promoted independent thought. Participation was encouraged and rewarded, and numerous students shared unique opinions on the subject matter.

Boring. I'm sorry but Hershenov is boring. Philosophy is boring and he doesn't make it better. The class was easier than I thought but still tough. Your TA matters. Don't go to Hershenov- your TA will have the answer. My TA was a good grader and was chill. It's a very dry class but the material is interesting

Don't ever take this class unless you want to ruin your GPA. He is the worst professor ever and can't get through one point shorter than 40 minutes. Nothing makes sense, and forget the fact that it's a philosophy class, he makes everything more confusing. He answers your question with a question???? The TAs grade very harsh so don't expect the best

CLASS MANDATORY! You skip you fail. Talks the whole lecture which is a lot of information. TA's are terrible and don't help. Final paper is worth a lot and rewrites barely count. TOUGH GRADERS!!! The exams are fair. Gives a practice exam beforehand which barely helps. Don't take this class or any class that David teachers. Worst class I've taken.

The lectures were long, information was easy to understand. He posts all the articles , theres one paper and 3 tests that are pretty easy. After some of the readings theres and extra credit quiz which doesnt lower your grade if you didnt read it. He has a weird white guy humor, idk not my favorite but not the worst. Easily achievable A

A lot of people make his class more difficult than it needs to be by not going to class or paying attention. You can get a very good grade with the right attitude. Grade is based on 3 exams and 1 paper that you will have to revise for an additional grade. Pay attention, take notes, do the practice exams, go to review, ask TAs when you need help.

This class is not easy. The TA'S are a joke and the final paper weighs a lot on your final grade but there is a re write which is pointless. You definitely have to read the paper constantly and make sure you study the practice essays because one of them will be on the test. Plus he is serious about attendance, STUDY and stay in contact with your TA

One of the worst courses I've taken at UB. Professor uses articles from old professors he had and his own to teach the class. Lectures consist of pages of outlines that are impossible to understand. Your assigned TA will be grading everything you complete and all four of them are brutal. Don't make the same mistake I did, it ruins your GPA.

reason your getting a poor review is bc you have the worst selection of T.A's. Especially the evil twins Carter-Beau Benson & Uriah Burke. The worst TA's in history. They act like their above everyone when they're students as well and they don't give grades truthfully unless they like you which should never be the case. So heres your review, enjoy

He is funny at times but sometimes his lectures are boring. He knows so much about the topics that he talks too much about it. His lecture notes are great that's what helped me during the test.

You can tell he likes what he does, but is okay at teaching it. Attendance is mandatory (you have to sign in) and he also tries to get kids to participate in class by giving a grade boost to those who regularly participate (few actually do). Material is semi-interesting, but it's really easy to lose him. If you read the outlines & study you'll pass

I had to miss class pretty often, but I did all the readings at home and passed the class. He gives the essay questions out a couple classes before the exam and then goes over them, so that portion is pretty easy. His TA's are pretty good, you're lucky if you get Ariane, she's really helpful. Final paper of 4-8 pages, pretty easy course overall.

Hershenov is one of the most adorable professors. The topics he covers are interesting and his analogies are hilarious. Personally I loved the class. Although this class is not hard, his teaching assistants grade the papers and aren't always reliable. Still, I recommend the class.

Not an awful professor, but rambles on and on about an article which could've been covered in 40 minutes instead of 80. Read the outlines and take notes because essay questions are directly from the outlines. Just pay attention and show up because attendance is mandatory.

The class and concepts were easy but tests were hard. Even if you study and understand all the material the questions on the test were all true false and have one word that changes entire answer. Seems that the tests are on how well you read questions not the actual material.

Extremely boring lectures!! He often goes off on a tangent, which makes it difficult to figure out what you are really supposed to be getting out of the lecture. His tests are ridiculous as well. I don't recommend taking him.
