Comment:
The only down side of this class is that Dr. Mascolo always goes on a long tangent during lectures. HOWEVER! He does give incredible amount of points on Revel. All tests are in class and open book. Psych is easy science, so if you have an understanding of a wide vocabulary and do the online homework, you will get an A.

Dr. Mascolo isnt a great a great professor unless you like to be thrown off topic. He just rambles and rambles not even about the work mainly his life. The work doesnt make sense when you are trying to keep up with him. He just cant explain that well. Math isnt an easy subject for me personally. He made it worst. Its so easy to zone out there.

I took Moscolo twice for psych 7. In person and online I liked him way better online. He is absent a lot, goes off topic, in person. Online was easier he simply gave our hw, lot of section quizzes and 3 big tests. He does a great job on sectioning what we need to focus on,so you dont waste time on unimportant topics. Book definitely needed.

I think this professor is really great if you just listen and do your part as a student to read your text. He even provides notes and his exams are literally from the book, his notes, & his discussions (all exams/quizzes are online and u can take at home so). No attendance w/c is great but you'll miss a lot of useful and hilarious stuff

He is a very intelligent man and knows his stuff but he talks quick and his lectures are short notes on the textbook and uses antidotal stories to make his points. All of the assignments are online and so are the tests including the final. Take his online class.

Literally like 75% my mind is just like what? He'll talk about something we're reading about then next thing you know he's talking about his knee and how he can't drive and rambling about the projector then his sister? He's very knowledgeable but super confusing. Doesn't stop for questions and when he does answer, it's not really clear

By far the worst professor I have ever taken at El Camino. His lectures are all over the place and make no sense. Almost everyone I know that took this class failed or dropped. Lucky to get by with a C. Even taking notes , reading the book and reading his notes are not helpful for quizzes/test. If you are good at teaching yourself then take him

This material was really difficult and it involves reading chapters and notes a couple of times. weekly quizes and I think he dropped 4 or 6. there is occasional extra credit. could be a little quicker with emails. The 2 test are a giant chunk of your grade, so study the study guide thoroughly.

He does sit in one place the whole time but attendance is literally not mandatory. He does however give you his lecture notes and you have the book to read. Plus all he gives out are the section quizzes once a week! THE FINAL AND MIDTERM ARE ONLINE and it wasn't an online class

You're barely able to follow along due to the fact that he rambles & his poor communication skills. He is not supposed to be teaching given the fact that he sits in one place the whole lecture! What I learned in college: teachers who just stay in one place the whole lecture are less likely to be a reliable source of you passing the class.

Tough teacher . He's not really supportive. He is a nice guy and funny but he is hard to follow sometimes. If you are someone who likes working independently with little teacher guidance than he's for you.

Throughout my few semesters at El Camino I continue to succeed in all my classes and this class was tough to say the least ( I'm so thrilled I got a C). If you are not a Psych major I don't recommend taking this class... nice guy but very unclear and can't reach him outside of class.

He is a great teacher. Although, sometimes it is hard to understand what he is saying because he is just too smart. Entertaining stories. All his stories are important, some appear in the quizzes.

Took him as an online class, it was really easy. Just a quiz every week, a mid term and a final. You must read the book and take notes, although he does give some note on key points. Overall really easy class.

Took Psych7 online during summer and learned a lot! Don't think it's easy cause its online and you have the book in front of you. It was a challenge but if you take the time to READ (book and lecture notes) you will get an A! 2 quizzes/wk, midterm, final. He drops 4 lowest quizzes. Met him on campus once to review a quiz, great professor!!

This professor has hilarious stories and is a pretty nice guy. Unfortunately he is unreachable outside of class. If you have a question make sure to wait in line after class. He comes late often so don't try to come early and don't attempt his office hours for help. Abnormal Psych is hard, I wish I had taken it with a more supportive teacher.

13 section quizzes & only 2 exams. Drops lowest 4 quizzes. Everything based mostly on book & a bit on lecture notes; must read book to pass. Only have 13 min to take quiz (1 chance) & 1.5 hrs to take exam (2 chances). Before exams, gives exam prep quizzes that were e.c. Poor at responding to emails. No review to check what ?'s you got wrong. Easy.

Worst teacher I've ever had in all my schooling. Most distracted person. Extremely poor communication skills, eye contact, annunciation. Lectures were always a mystery. Should not be teaching. All I can say is GOOD LUCK with that guy. You truly are all on your own and that class is hard enough as it is.

Dr. Mascolo is a very intelligent professor. His way of lecturing will require your full attention, for his exams are based on lectures and the book. University quality and he also teaches the same class at Pepperdine. Very nice when you ask questions after class as well !
