Professor Akins is a great teacher, if you pay attention in lecture and do the homework assaigned you will do fine. I had him for Calculus 3 it went well enjoyed the jokes no one got. dont bring your cell phone for quizes or exams potentially can get a zero if it goes off. I saw it happen. He is kind of old but he still can teach, funny and can crack some nice joke, fun class. As long as you pay attention in class and take note, go home and do the H.W while making sure you know how to do them. You should do really good in the class. His test isn't hard or easy, its just right, I got B and didn't really do much since I am good at math

he is a little clumsy and drops his marker MANY times...overall he is a good teacher...love this class...i dont know how half the class failed though..i got a solid A. the final was so easy...no surprises...he is very helpful in activity and goes over all your questions.

Seriously, this guy was the worst teacher that I've ever had. Honestly, you could hardly even call him a teacher because all he does is just make you read the text book and do homework on it; classes are strictly for answering questions on material that he never taught. He also grades harder than you can imagine. SWITCH TEACHERS AT ALL COSTS!

Knows his stuff. You must do the homework and read chapter, but if you do, you should be fine. Lectures are mandatory but logical and easy to follow. It's best to participate and ask questions. He's good cause he shows how current material builds on previous and will relate to future topics.

One of the best math professors I've ever had. Hwvr, his style may rub some the wrong way, esp if they need remedial instruction. If you like instructors that just shrug/ laugh off students not knowing what they're supposed to, take someone else. Study, do the HW -- don't whine. He will respect your work/ effort - you will learn alot.

He takes role everyday. Gets off topic with explaining questions by showing the importance of the material in calculus and so on. Spends the whole class doing homework questions on the board leaving you to learn material on your own. Very tough homework grading. If you pay attention and do the homework you will be fine

Avoid this teacher if possible. He was always in a bad mood when I attended his office hours. Actually made me regret asking questions. Not one of the other faculty members has ever made me feel like dropping the class simply because of their attitude.

If you are an idiot, do not take him. But if you know what you are supposed to know for whichever class, you'll do well. He's very precise, has a great command of the material. Very available in office hours. Sure, can be a little gruff, but he's only intimidating to ppl who don't know their stuff and are unprepared (read the book, do the HW!).

he is not that bad. stay on top of you HW because he takes his time grading the HW. lectures are clear. If you can understand math well Akins will not be a prob. tests are straight forward the final was hard because it has everything from the beginning to the end of the semester, which is a lot of material.

Math is the bane of my existence and having him as my professor didn't help much. His "lectures" are unclear and homework takes forever but isn't worth much. The tests are pretty hard and he doesn't curve. If you like math, you'll be fine. If you hate math, do NOT take Math 101 with this professor!

He does not understand simple English in the class. I don't recommend him. Actually, everyone in our class hates him. He does not care if you pass or you fail. He just want to teach like a robot who does not care if the student understand it. He usually get mad if we are asking questing and saying that our questions are non sense and read the book.

Worst professor ever! He does not seem to explain things well. He many times lets class out early and skips a lot of stuff, leaving a hour or so early, putting everything onto our own. Exams are very hard and whatever materials are on them is always a mystery. Class materials and exams don't match. I don't recommend this professor.

After the first 2 meetings we already were 2 sections behind. So wat does he do in order to catch up? He decides to just skip it. Right off the bat we are left to figure out this stuff on our own! R U kidding me? We pay for this? Next day, he teaches ONE ex from the next section, we are told to complete that section on our own for hw. HORRIBLE!

Akins is the worst teacher! He's old and he could not explain things well. Doesn't really count Homework, but bases your grades on mainly tests. His tests are very tricky and hard and he gets very picky when he grades your tests. I don't recommend this teacher.

This professor is horrible! His lectures are disorganized and does not finish sections, leaving you to fend for yourself. His HW is a big part of the class, the exams are hard and confusing; becoming clear only after you took the exam. Take another professor if you can!!! Oh, and I am very good at math...so, take my word for it.
