Way too hard for a Gen Ed... too much reading and never fully explains things. Only has one office hour per week so virtually impossible to meet with him if your schedule isn't open.

Dr. McKenzie is very monotone, very hard to pay attention in class if you're not interested. about 30-45 min readings for each class and his class is 90% discussion instead of lecture. Tests are exactly the main points he addresses with discussions and pop quizzes for each unit.

Comment:
McKenzie is very monotone and class can be quite boring. The tests are difficult if you only go based on lectures and don't use the book. We had to write a book report and he graded fairly easily. My study group would divide out our questions and email him before the test and the answers were usually not helpful unless we got very specific.

Dr. McKenzie is an INCREDIBLE professor. He knows his stuff, he's understanding, he's helpful...he'll help you get a good grade in his class and enjoy the subject as well. He's an all-around sweet guy. My all-time favorite college professor. He speaks in a monotone, but his jokes are funny, and he's a GREAT guy and a GREAT professor.

I would recommend taking Dr. Mckenzie! He is very helpful and knowledgeable. He is also a very easy grader. However, he does have quite a monotone voice and is difficult to listen to sometimes. But, I feel like I did learn a good deal in his class.

Comment:
I'm strongly agnostic, and Dr. McKenzie is an ordained minister in one of the more conservative denominations. So it comes as high praise for me to say that he's one of the most unbiased professors I've ever met. He's also extremely nice. He can be a little monotone, but he's very good at refining lectures to just the right amount of detail.

McKenzie is a very nice man. He grades very fair, and some would say easy. In his intro class, there is a lot of readings, a few tests, papers, and pop quizzes. The quizzes are not hard at all and just reflect whether or not you read. I disagreed with him on a lot but it was nice to know he respected me enough to not let it affect my grade.

He is a quiet old man with hilarious comments! There's a LOT of reading and there are "pop" quizes (which are usually every wednesday) over the previous night's handouts (he just asks what the reading was about basically). Tests are easy but a little overwhelming to study for because so much material is covered. Definitely recommend him!!!

HARD for a gen ed. Way too much reading every night. He's not specific about what he wants on his tests. You have to read in order to do well on his quizzes, but he generally tells you what to focus on. Participation isn't required, but he does consider it for your grade so don't miss too many classes.

This was one of the most pointless classes I have ever taken. I have don't feel a need to be in class, and when I am, I'm falling asleep constantly. I think it's a mixture of the subject and the teacher.

Dr. McKenzie's class was the highlight of my semester. Listening to his articulation of complicated philosophical concepts was insightful, and downright poetic at times. Highly recommended.

while dr mckenzie assigns quite a bit of reading, he asks follow up questions that link the reading to things you are more interested in discussing. furtheremore, his ability to answer questions is unmatched -- especially in the religious field.
